Overview
Steamboats played a major role in the 19th century on the Mississippi River, and this tour offers a whole evening of New Orleans fun aboard a paddle-wheel steamboat. Enjoy unique views of the city without having to deal with crowded streets, and save time and money by combining a cruise with a night of live jazz and Creole-style dinner (if option selected).
What to Expect
Your cruise takes off from the docks near Toulouse Street in the French Quarter of New Orleans. Board your ship up to an hour before your departure time. The paddle-wheel steamboat, Steamboat Natchez, is one of the last of its kind in the area.

Once out on the Mississippi River, relax on the outdoor deck or inside in the cabin, and take in views of the city in the distance. As you float down the river, enjoy jazz music performed by the Grammy-nominated Dukes of Dixieland.

If you’ve upgraded your cruise ticket to include dinner, pile your plate full of Creole-style food from the buffet table. The bread pudding is a popular dessert choice.

Your cruise ends back in the French Quarter. If you’re looking for something to do afterward, there’s a booming nightlife scene nearby.

The food is nothing special but the trip itself is worth it.

This is a very large paddle-wheeler and the paddle-wheel is actually doing the pushing, unlike some I've seen. the dinner was good enough but the service was excellent. They had a outstanding jazz band playing and the view was wonderful. They have 2 dinner times...More

Too many smokers

If we had known that smoking was allowed everywhere outside, we would not have gone. The only inside non-smoking places are for eating, and we hadn’t chosen that option, and a couple of bar areas. It’s particularly bad before the boat actually leaves, around 7:10...More

We do have to admit we did the boat on a beautiful May evening. Glad we brought jackets. We felt it was well worth the time. Highly recommend the Natches. The Jazz band was excellent and set the ambiance of a vintage steamboat down the...More

Good but very commercial

The boat is a great old fashioned steamer you get exactly what you expect seeing and being on the boat was definitely the hi light for us. Music and food ok, though you do feel slightly herded as are given allotted times with your 2...More

We booked it through our hotel, but there are small visitor center/kiosks all over the French Quarter. You can probably do it online as well, but we didn’t check out that option.
