Overview
Swamps can hold hidden dangers such as alligators, wild boars, and even snakes. This guided tour guarantees you safe travel through one of Louisiana’s last preserved wetlands, and takes you to a Cajun village accessible only by boat. Plus, you'll learn about the history and culture of Honey Island Swamp from your guide as you cruise through the bayou.
What to Expect

Meet for this swamp tour at Honey Island Swamp in Slidell, which is about an hour away from New Orleans. This wildlife area is one of the last protected wetlands in the entire state.

After you check in, board your open-air boat and get comfortable. Your boat sets off on the swamp as your guide tells you the history of the area as well as fun folklore associated with the swamp.

As you go, keep an eye out for wildlife, including alligators, snakes, wild boars, and birds. Make sure to have your camera ready so you can snap pictures, too. Your guide also takes you to a Cajun village in the swamp that’s used the area for medicine, food, and other everyday needs for years.

Your New Orleans swamp and bayou tour ends back at the docking point in Slidell.

Gators, Hogs, and Indian Village, OH MY!

Lots of wonderful sights, gators, and wild hogs. Great guide with Captain Judah. The Cajun air conditioning was perfect. And we got a great photo of a gator thanks to their secret ingredient (hot dogs)!

Outstanding

About a 40 minute drive from the French Quarter and well worth the time and price. Professionally run, a large crowd was handled smoothly for the 12:15 tour. About 20 people in our covered boat run by a friendly, knowledgable guide. 9 in my party,...More

Really interesting and fun!

Our swamp tour allowed us to get right out there in the swamp in a flat boat to meet raccoons, wild pigs and, of course, ALLIGATORS! Our sharp-eyed boat captain, Capt. Emmett, even spotted a snake for us. Emmett really made the tour fabulous-knowledgable, funny...More

A lot of fun

Just did the swamp tour. A lot of fun and well worth the price. Saw numerous alligators, a raccoon, wild pigs, and several bird species. Our captain, Jacob, knew the area well, including the history. We highly recommend this tour.

Yes, there are. Children are required to wear them at all times and there are ones under the seats for everyone in case of an emergency.

Good Question. If the person is able to physically walk and make it down two average steps, then I don't see it as a problem since the boat seating is basically two, long benches, back to back. Any boat Captain can assign... More
