Itinerary
After convenient pickup at your downtown or French Quarter hotel, leave the bustle of New Orleans behind and travel to the launch point on the West Pearl River, near the shores of Lake Pontchartrain. Board a covered swamp boat that provides protection from the hot Louisiana sun or from rain on stormy days, and make your way into the protected waters of the Honey Island Swamp.

Glide beneath hanging moss and cypress trees, as a wetlands ecologist guide shares info about this unique ecosystem, plus local legends of pirates, Bigfoot, and prehistoric creatures. Look out for swamp critters, such as otters, egrets, nutria, turtles, and alligators, during the cruise. You’ll also learn about Louisiana's important fishing industry and pass through a typical Cajun fishing village.

A great Sonny Tour

Sonny took us on a fun and educational tour. Easy going, with a good balance of friendly banter and informative dialogue this was a great day out.

must do

This was a great way to spend a morning. Our van driver picked us up right on time at our hotel. The trip to Slidell, LA. was very interesting, the driver was able to point a lot of things of interest mostly regarding the hurricane....More

Don't go in April

We saw the videos of the Honey Island Swamp Tour, mainly the ones where the gators swim right up to the boat. We weren't disappointed for the most part, but definitely chose the wrong attraction for the season. I'll start with the pickup/dropoff/transportation. The van...More

Nice trip & personable guide

The pick up from a hotel close to where I was staying outside the city limits was pretty convenient. When calling to choose a spot the woman on the phone was very helpful. The trip to the swamp was informative. The actual tour was quite...More

Nice tour, pricey for hotel pick-up

I had to call in to confirm our booking and the operator was quite curt and abrupt. They accept only cash which I thought was quite inconvenient and while the tour itself did not cost too much, the tour worked quite pricey with pickup from...More

Yes... we were staying at an AirBNB and they came for us. I think you just need to tell them where you are staying and they will either stop for you or tell you the closest place they will stop. Best to do it on the phone.

We booked the day before and believe we were able to because a lot of people cancelled due to forecast rain. It did sprinkle a little, but our experience was still amazing!

The boat I was on in April held about 14 folks. It was very comfortable seating and everyone had a great view. I liked the boat as it had a canopy top that would protect you from rain and direct sun.
