On our annual girls' weekends, we always try to find a walking food tour in every city we visit. This one did not disappoint. Ellen was extremely knowledgeable and very enthusiastic about sharing information about Providence and its food. We thoroughly enjoyed it.

Ellen was a wonderful tour guide. She took the time to talk with every person and truly cared about what you had to say. We enjoyed all of the food an my vegetarian husband was given decent substitutions. We even revisited Plant City one more time and The Malted Barley two times after the tour. Ellen also introduced us to Del's frozen lemonade! Delicious by the way!

A few things:

I did the alcohol add on. You are not given alcohol at every stop. I did not care for the beer flight at the Malted Barley, but that was my issue not the tour's. When I returned to the Malted Barley, I was able to customize my own flight. I enjoyed it much more.

2 of the stops did not give us water with our food. I always carry water with me and have no problem buying anything along the way, but that might be a problem for some. A cup of water would have been beneficial at Dune Bros. and Geoff's.

Just a friendly reminder about tours in general - Please tip your tour guide. We are always in disbelief the amount of people who do not tip.

My husband, tween daughter and I love food and we always try to do a food tour whenever we visit a new city. The Rhode Island Red Food Tour was our 6th and it was definitely one of the best ones we've experienced. Mary, our tour guide, was amazing! She was enthusiastic, full of energy and very knowledgeable about the food and history of Providence. She was very accommodating and took care of everyone's needs throughout the tour. She even walked my family back to the area where we parked to make sure we didn't get lost. This tour was the highlight of our 3-day visit to Providence and a huge part of what made it so special was Mary!

We made 6 stops and tried 6 different items and every single one was delicious. The great thing about going on food tours is that you get to try foods you may not know to try on your own. That was definitely the case on this tour. We went to places we would have overlooked and got to try amazing stuff! So don’t wait any longer. Go ahead and book this tour.

So good...definitely a major highlight of our week in the Providence/Boston area. Ellen our tour guide was spectacular - informative, gregarious, and hilarious. The food stops were diverse and memorable - hard to even pick a favorite. Actually a way better sightseeing/historical tour than we were anticipating, so that was a bonus above and beyond the food part. We felt like VIPs at each restaurant - the owners stopped by and talked with us about the dishes they picked out for us. Highly recommended!

We had a great time with Jenny. We've done at least 5 other food tours and she did a great job with pacing and balancing information about the area with information about the restaurants. The food was delicious at all 6 sites and I was quite full by the end (a good thing!) They accommodated food dislikes we told them about ahead of time by swapping out food and when there was a mistake at one restaurant where we didn't get two of the delicious chocolate bouchons and instead one of us got a pistachio macaron (much less good!), Jenny made up for it by getting us a brownie at the next stop which we really appreciated. I definitely recommend this tour!

Perfect way to spend the day together as a family! We took our 4 kids (ages 16-22) on the tour. It's sometimes hard to find something we all like to do together, but our "foodies" loved the tour. It was wonderful seeing the passion each restauranteur put into their food. Everything was delicious and our guide Jack was so personable and funny. I especially liked how Jack shared with us the history of how Providence has evolved as well as educating us on the art and architecture along the way. Even though we are locals, we don't know Providence well and now we know exactly where to go for some great eats! From beginning to end the experience was flawless. We found free street parking right near our meeting place, and the vegetarian options for our daughter were as delicious and well thought out as our tastings. At the conclusion of our tour, it was telling that everyone picked a different favorite from the restaurants since all our stops were SO good!

Overall the food was tasty and our drink offerings were good, I felt like that part was my fav (thank goodness since i was on a food n drink tour) the sights were great to take in of the city. I'm going to be completely honest, our tour guide was knowledgeable about the city history and talk ALOT, I was not on a history tour:( I would of liked more talk about food and the city's food scene. It took us 1 hour to get to our 2nd tasting and in that time our guide talked. We did have 6 stops but no drinks until the 4th stop so that was disappointing.
So to wrap it up the offerings and stops were great, was a good tour

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We do recognize that we call ourselves a food tour, but when you read our tour description we are clear that in between walking to each tasting location we talk about the history and culture of the neighborhood. This is about 1/3 of our tour and most people are pleasantly surprised and feel its a real bonus to learn something from it in the end. Because it is part a history & culture tour we want to take you where events and history happened and through a visually appealing route as much as we can. On this particular tour much of the history is up front and then it is 1 restaurant after the other pretty quickly. In reality there is actually just over 30 minutes between eating at our 1st stop on the outskirts of downtown to our next stop downtown. I know it may seem like it should be easy to coordinate and plan a timely food tour but it's actually complicated, there are many factors that play into the route, some of which are out of our control, such as restaurant availability among others. In the end, based on the majority of our reviews I think we have pulled it off fairly successfully and created an overall enjoyable experience. Thank you for taking our tour, we're glad in the end the food tastings and stops were to your liking.

I had such a great time! The time I had booked, I was lucky enough to be in a super small group. It was just me and my partner and another couple. I personally prefer smaller groups. Jack, our tour guide, was very attentive to each of us and was able to give us the history of Providence as well as additional information on the restaurants. the restaurant choices were amazing, I was able to enjoy foods I would otherwise not order.

Our Providence Food Tour was 5-star! We enjoyed Katie's knowledge of the City and bubbly personality, made for a fun afternoon. The tasting at each stop was delicious, in addition to meeting a few of the restaurant chiefs. Would recommend this tour to everyone.

Let me just say Ellen with Rhode Island Red Food Tours in Providence, RI was an exceptional tour guide! She had high energy throughout, lots of interesting information, we had excellent tasting food! She was very caring and concerned, but very adaptable when, in the middle of our tour, the 95°+ heat, I started getting overheated, but not heat stroke/exhausted yet. We got in a cooler place, and I started to feel better shortly after (I was drinking water throughout the tour). We decided that I would stay out of the sun, and she was willing to bring back my portion of the food at the same place!!! She is a great tour guide! The food I did have was very tasty and the tour supports local restaurants! If you get the chance to be in Providence, RI and have about 3.5 hours to walk around, I highly recommend this tour!
