Overview

Explore Newport on an approximately 3-hour trolley tour for an overview of Newport’s key areas, from the grand mansions along Bellevue Avenue to Cliff Walk and Ocean Drive, where you’ll have sweeping views across Narragansett Bay. Learn the area’s history on the trolley tour, which includes a 1.5-hour tour of The Breakers, a Vanderbilt mansion that’s among the most spectacular of Newport’s historic homes.

What to Expect

Make your way to the Newport visitor center, where you’ll board a trolley for a tour through the heart of the city. The tour begins with the colonial-era sights in the Newport Historic District, and then continues along Bellevue Avenue, which is lined with the city’s most famous mansions.

Here and throughout the tour, the guide will share historic facts and stories that help bring the city to life, pointing out the best places to see and explore.

Wind out of the city center on Ocean Drive, following the scenic coastline of Aquidneck Island, passing historic Fort Adams, and getting a glimpse of elegant seaside inns.

After taking in the town, step into Newport’s “Gilded Age” on a 1.5-hour tour of The Breakers, a beautifully restored mansion that was once the Vanderbilt family's summer home. This approximately 3-hour tour concludes at the original departure point.

Weekend in RI

Loved our tour with Russ!!!!!!! Having only one hour at the mansion wasn’t enough time to take it all in. That would be the ONLY negative about our day if there was a negative.

NO There are many stairs and I wouldn’t bring my own young children to a mansion tour. They aren’t interested. And it may be a distraction to others trying to enjoy the tour.
