An informative, fun, hands on, unique experience!
If you are looking for a scientific based course that is both extremely informative, hands on, fun and well run than this is the program for you. The program resides at a welcoming dive center located right on a quiet beach but surrounded by affordable accommodation and good restaurants. A short walk from the pier, with a nice pool to hangout on and a house reef right in front of the shop. Gili Air is a dream; quiet, affordable, and surrounded by beautiful reefs. If you are looking for an island to relax and meet other like minded individuals this is the place for you. The program is run by Leon, whose passion and knowledge of the marine environment is obvious the first time you meet him. Even though the Gili air program is very new, Leon's coral taxonomy knowledge, his developed artificial structures and his lectures suggest he has been open for years. I would highly recommend to anyone interested in marine conservation, who wants a career in this field or just wants to learn more about the aquatic environment to take this course.

You Have To Try Thus Programme!
Diving is not only for fun, but by diving we can also make changes. An extraordinary and very helpfull experience with Conservation Diver Indonesia in Gili Air, Lombok, Indonesia to share experiences and knowledge of monitoring underwater ecology and building artificial reefs. If you want to do more than a dive, you hve to join this course. It will increase your knowledge about how to assess the conditions of marine life and what kind of efforts that we can make to keep it sustainable. You Have To Try This Programme!

      HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
Words honestly cannot describe how amazing and fulfilling this experience is. I have already completed a few conservation diving certificates however they were able to accommodate and teach me more things than i ever expected to learn. Leon & the crew go above and beyond to ensure you are safe, happy and their teaching abilities are so inspiring for upcoming divers. If you are even the slightest bit interested in the ocean, the sustainability, conservation and diving i highly recommended this program. Marine conservation is becoming so needed and the fact that you can help the coral health directly is extremely rewarding. I cannot wait to return.

The work that this team are doing is inspirational. We spent an afternoon learning about the importance of coral reefs and the incredible work being done to rebuild reefs that have died due to global warming and dynamite fishing. We then went on a dive and had the opportunity to plant our own piece of coral on the reef structure! We can’t wait to return in a couple of years to see how the reef has grown. It is an experience that we will never forget! Thank you

I have taken part in a few similar style projects like this before but this one (and I'm sure all the other the conservation diver projects) eclipse the rest by far. The attention to detail, and the way the course is presented makes it so easy and fun to learn. But what really makes the difference is the staff, at blue marlin where the project is based everyone is very professional from the manager to the awesomely funny boat crew and everything just runs smoothly all day everyday. The guy (Leon) in charge of the conservation courses is a true legend, could answer and explain all my many questions in great depth and he made sure I understood each chapter before we moved on. I stayed for the full 3 week advance course and I loved every second and the staff especially Leon wasn't only just treating me like a customer or a number, we all become good friends and that's what made the experience so special. I will never forget it and will be eternally greatful to the whole team!!

After spending quite some time considering whether or not to do the conservation course, I decided to join for the two week program. And I haven't regretted a single minute I spent there! Instead I was sad I hadn't decided to do three weeks when I left.
Within two weeks, I learned so much about marine life and how diving and science can come together.
Even though the amount of information can be (positively) overwhelming at times, Leon is doing a fantastic job at presenting all of it in a relatable and fun way. His passion for marine life is so contagious that the two weeks went by in a heartbeat.

This course has definitely changed the way I dive and think about diving.
If you're interested in marine life and giving diving a purpose, I can wholeheartedly recommend investing in this experience!

I participated in the 3-week program from Conservation Diver Indonesia at the dive centre Blue Marlin on Gili Air in January 2020. The three-week course included the Reef Science Week, the Artificial Reef Week and the Advanced Ecological Monitoring Program. I highly recommend this course to anyone interested in diving who wants to learn more about marine life, scientific diving and marine conservation.

I recommend doing this course with a minimum of two-weeks because in the second week you have the chance to actively participate in reef conservation by building bottle reefs, coral nurseries and creating your own artificial reef and deploying the structures at the house reef.

The program offers a great mix of theory, scientific diving and actively working in reef conservation. Fun is included too for sure, and with the instructor Leon you have an experienced, knowledgeable and very passionate marine biologist who can tell you everything about corals.

If you want to spend a bit more time on the beautiful Gili Air island, you have a desire to participate actively in reef conservation and want have an unforgettable time, then this course is definitely a great choice.

Keep up the great work, Conservation Diver Indonesia.

We wanted to see what the conservation course was all about, and this was a perfect introduction. So sad that we didn't had the time to do the full course, but we will come back as soon as possible! The teacher (leaon) was so proffeccional and the lectures was never boring, but really exciting.
I will definitely recommend this course to all of my friends who dive.
See you soon , thanks for a amazing sneak peak! 😃

We had the incredible oppurtunity to have an one day course for conservation divers. In one day we learned so much about corals and the impact for our environment, if these beautiful creatures die. Although we only had one day, we were able to implant two small corals from the nursery at their artificial reef where they can grow. It's so important to make people understand, that these creatures have to be proteced. I hope we'll be able to participate the whole course in the future. If you get the oppurtunity to take the course, grab it! You'll see the whole reefs with other eyes and you'll not only pay attention to all the fishes, which are also very important, but also to all the different kind of corals.

    We have to protect them!
    Keep up the good work!

To sum up my 2 week Conservation Diver course at Blue Marlin Gili Air in one word would be.... “WOW”!

I never thought I’d be able to learn so much from one person in such a short amount of time. Not only did my scuba diving skills improve out of sight but my updated knowledge of the ocean has me more inspired then ever!
If your thinking about becoming a Conservation Diver and diving with a purpose, I 10/10 recommend jumping on a course at Blue Marlin Gili Air with their legendary Conservation Instructor Leon.

    It will not disappoint.
