We arrived in Houtong at 1pm and left after 6pm. I didn't research before going, so I thought it was only about the cats. If we'd stayed longer it would have been great to visit more of the old mining relics and do some hiking....More

I'm a big time cat lover, so it's difficult to get to a place called a "cat village" when the 1st 2 rules of the Cat Village are no feeding the cats and no touching them. I might have violated the 1st part of the...More

I did not visit this sleepy little cat-themed mountain town at the best weather condition. It was a rather rainy day and it was the most annoying kind of rain; not heavy enough to deter you from traveling completely, but just enough drizzle to keep...More

I love cats, and I had such a lovely time to mingle with other cat lovers. Honestly, I thought there would be so many cats walking around... but it was relatively quiet (in feline population wise). There are some cute cat souvenirs you can grab....More

Quiet mining village with several cats. Able to finish walking within 2 hours. Village residents sell merchandise and cat food to feed the cats so that was quite interesting and fun. Cafe food was decent too. Wish there were more cats though.

Saw approximately 10-15 cats there but they looked like they were scared of humans. Not sure if it's good to disturb them, haha. There are around 7 cafes that you can visit at the highest point at Houtong Cat Village, which I enjoyed after a...More

Nested along Taipei TRA PingXi line, this cats' village is quaint and the cats are no stranger to humans interaction. While most of them are, as expected, quite aloof. Some are quite affectionate and endearing. The village is sandwiched by lush green hills and the...More

With its air of historical heritage, Shuijinjiu
(ShueiNanDong, Jingguashi, Jiufen) used to be
prosperous and glamorous due to mining. Although its
magnificent semblance no longer exists, the peaceful
and beautiful atmosphere has persisted. With a wave to
the age of the gold rush, one can still see a glimpse
of its glorious past through the Golden Waterfall.
