We spend half a day in the afternoon with a driver going up the canyon and stopping at short hikes along the road. It is a phenomenal canyon. We were very impressed with the beauty of the scenery and changing views along the canyon. Unfortunately...More

This entire Park, full of wonderful trails and fabulous rock formations and, I assume lava vent-formed tunnels, is well worth the effort of exploration. Many of the naturally-formed tunnels are paved along the floors so that they are easily walkable. Lots of rushing water and...More

Taroko NP is arguably Taiwan’s most famous natural attraction – and rightfully so. The heart of the national park is the 20-km long Taroko Gorge which was carved out of the marble rock by the Liwu River over the course of millions of years. There...More

We visited only for one day, but you can easily spend much more time there. The gorges are beautiful, the landscape is very scenic. Check the weather forecast as it can be very slippery in the rain. There are one day transport passes (TWD 250)...More

Taroko is a very scenic place and we were lucky to be driven around to the main sites and hiking trails by Tonny. He was great! Very friendly and easy going. We hired him for 2 days from Hualien to see Taroko and the East...More

First of all, if you come to Hualien to visit Taroko Gorge, do not stay at Xincheng, although it has a train station near to (almost near 😉) to Taroko. Xincheng itself is a very quite place, less building and places to visit unless you...More

This year, a group of Hong Kong teenagers determined to challenge themselves by cycling up part of the Taroko National Park, which would be a bit too much in terms of physical stamina and persistence from those city-dwelt bookworms who had little exercise. This journey...More

Visited this National park from Taipei as a day trip which is doable by public transport. Took a train from Taipei Main Station and got off at Xincheng (Taroko Gorge) train station. From here, took the (blue) public bus at the stop just outside the...More

In my opinion, a visit to the Taroko Gorge National Park is a must-do experience for travelers to Taiwan. Unfortunately, I was only able to spend one full day in the park, but I can easily see where it would be possible to spend 3...More

Yes, there is bus service between Hualien and Taroko National Park. We have seen many tourists using it. Check with your hotel on arrival.
