About
This is an amazing museum about Chiang Mai's history and culture. It opened in 1999. Their web sit is a bit hi-tech quirky.

First time visit to the two floor museum after multiple visits to Chiang Mai. Prior favorable 4-to-5 star reviews are on-target. Took us 1 hour but we came at the end of the day. Best to plan on 1.5-2 hours. Pleasant findings: (a) Well organized...More

This is the large white building located behind the iconic Three King’s Monument. It used to be the Old Provincial Hall, built in 1924. It currently houses the City Art and Culture Center. You get to see a short video on the historical background of...More

This is a well-kept museum with lots of information on the history and culture of Thailand, particularly the northern part formerly known as the Lanna Kingdom. Our attractive, knowledgeable, and professional guide helped us to understand the displays. Her English was perfect, which is humbling...More

Outside seating is a little warm in April. Food ok. Dancing is nice but slow. Not a high action performance. Seems a little long. Would not recommend.

The museum along with the Lanna folklore museum provide an engaging and informative overview of the history and culture of Chiang Mai. For instance this museum has a few exhibits on the founding and early days of Chiang Mai and helps to explain how various...More

A lovely place to spend a couple of hours. The building itself is very relaxing (they have a coffee and gift shop overlooking the courtyard). It's informative without being too heavy. Definitely worthwhile.

Would highly recommend visiting this museum! It’s very modern, with hi-tech displays & beautifully presented information. The gift shop & cafe are also lovely. Was surprised by how empty it is given the high standard! The best museum we’ve been to in Thailand by far!
