El Salvador is a catholic state, so a visit to the city center has to include the Cathedral. Inside is huge, the altar is impressive, and you feel peace inside!

I can't believe how the outside of the church has changed since I've seen it last.. All the beautiful pieces are gone, now it's kinda dull. Definitely go under the church and see the crypt of Saint Archbishop Oscar Romero. You can buy a rosary...More

We went into the Catedral to see the resting place of the late Monsignor Romero. Not a very impressive church when compared with other colonial churches but it’s worth it to stop in and check it out.

It's a must visit when you go to downtown in San Salvador, is near the Rosario Church and the City Hall. The only thing is that I don't recommend is to take your camera in the area.

The interior of the cathedral was underwhelming. I think I recall the guide saying this was the third cathedral on that site (the previous two having been knocked down by earthquakes or burned). The interior seems like they were reaching for a colonial-era feel, but...More

If you will visit downtown San Salvador, this cathedral is a must see - especially because the tomb of Archbishop Romero is in the lower level.

This cathedral is absolutely stunning on both the inside and outside. The interior had beautiful stained glade windows and a lovely interior with paintings, chandeliers, and holy figures. My family and I also were fortunate enough to have them open up Monseñor Romero's Crypt for...More
