We went here for a quick visit. There is lots of artifacts regarding the Pre-Columbian period in Costa Rica. You could spend a lot of time here.

The closest equivalent to this museum is the Museo del Oro in Bogota, Colombia, which I was fortunate to visit only the week before. This museum in San Jose is no where near the size nor contains the diversity of objects and works of art...More
Really worth a visit if you want to understand the background to Costa Rica and the history. Including details of indigenous people still living here. Found it far more interesting than I thought. It’s not just about Gold!!!

He loved it and we spent quite some time here. The exhibits are well displayed and explained. The glitters kept our grandson interested. And the gift shop provided him a place to begin the souvenir purchases for his family back home. Prices were extremely reasonable....More

I rented a car when we were in San Jose...but Uber is perfect. There are many parking lots around the museum. In fact there is a very close one so that you just have to walk 100m and your there ...everywhere. Very safe... More
I rented a car when we were in San Jose...but Uber is perfect. There are many parking lots around the museum. In fact there is a very close one so that you just have to walk 100m and your there ...everywhere. Very safe walking around the area. and the cool thing is that all the main museums are close by. I bought all the tickets at once and I got discounts. I would also recommend eating at the snack bar inside the Jade Museum.
