I've walked round Huay Tung Tao twice, in different seasons. Unquestionably, it appears more picturesque in sunshine, but even in the rain, it has a beautiful Thai charm, and is a great walk. An easy cycle ride, too. Sitting lake-side in a sala, chatting with...More

Paid a songatew (red pick up) 600 baht to take us door to door from hotel and wait three hours at the reservoir then take us back. Cost 50 baht for foreigners to get in. Plenty of bamboo huts all around and all you have...More

We love coming here to relax and eat especially in the huts over the water. Coming mid week is best if you don't like crowds. Lots of restaurants to choose from which all serve similar food. But it's cheap, and great for a lazy afternoon

Fancy dining on local cuisine while dipping your feet into the cool lake and having the gorgeous mountains as a backdrop? This place is an absolute must and quite a rare gem amongst tourists. We dined on freshly caught fried shrimps from the lake itself....More

Arrive early so you can snag a sala (bamboo hut) to sit in, especially on busy weekends. Order food and drinks, relax, play in the water, or rent a pedello (but only if you're under 65 kg / 143 lbs). Entry fee 50 THB for...More

Great way to relax. Just a view of the lake and good food. If you don't have anything else to do, hop on the bike, eat and relax, drive around the area. This gets busy and packed during Songkran though. :)
