A smaller complex than Tikal. You must visit from 3 pm on to appreciate de sunset from its highest temple. Hear the jungle come alive as the sun setsnin the horizon

Me and my husband visited Yaxha in mid July. We were very lucky as our guide was Saul. He told us a lot about culture, history and daily life of Mayas. He also showed us many animals and even plants used by Mayas. We really...More

This place is not to be missed-I stayed 2 days and visited the park twice. Not as impressive perhaps as Tikal but the ambience is fantastic and of all (5) ruins I have visited so far this place is the best -the most ”spiritual” place...More

I would recommend Yaxha as a must. It is smaller than Tikal but there is something very special about the place. If you decide to go I would recommend the sunset tour. You will not be sorry.

We went to Yaxha before Tikal. Spectacular setting of ruins unearthed and many, many more not. Beautiful, mysterious sights in the jungle with so many ruins still covered with foliage. Lots of climbing but worth every step.

Really super! Not so very very big but nicely hidden in the jungle. Take enough water with you and protect yourself from the sun

Not very popular but extremely beautiful! Wild, mysterious and very well conserved, it worth the visit before Tikal. Full of animals, monkeys, spiders, birds... this is the best place to enter into the Maya's history.

We visited the ruins in the afternoon and climbed the Temple of the Red Hands for sunset. Amazing and probably my favourite single thing to do in Guatemala. Because its a little out of the way we felt like we had the whole park to...More

I hadn't really planned to visit Yaxha. After all, I had visited Tikal which I had found absolutely amazing. I would probably be disappointed by Yaxha, I thought. Well, I highly recommend to visit it! I loved it. The site is magical and so peaceful,...More

Yaxha is a beautiful place to visit. Shorter to visit than Tikal, it still gives you great insight into the Mayan civilization. Wonderful buildings, lots of history, tropical rainforest and, above all, great views from the forest and Yaxha lake from the temple 216. Make...More
