As 2 adults (who don't like whisky!) and 3 children aged 5-10 years, this was still well worth a visit. We spent about 45 mins doing the tour which includes a video, viewing the coopers working and reading display boards. Our guide then had to leave us but we were welcome to stay as long as we wanted in the... More

Dear kjh0012017 The staff at the centre are so pleased you had a good time when you were here with your family. Describing your visit as fascinating is a huge compliment - thank you. Trying to assemble the miniature barrels is not as easy as it looks but good fun to try! Best wishes Gill More

Arrived at 1230 and had time for a soup-and-sandwich lunch before the 1300 tour. The tour itself started with a 15 min movie about the cooperage. The video has been updated recently and is a good method of introducing the cooperage workshop. It's a working cooperage which is why it has odd opening hours i.e. Not at weekends. The guide... Dear navypilot72 Thank you for including us in your trip to Speyside; it is great to read you are pleased to have added the Cooperage to your itinerary. You are quite correct in that the coopers work at a very fast pace and that the guides are there to answer any questions you may have about the work that they... More

If you have any interest in whisky, then you will love the cooperage. The tour duration states 45 minutes, but you can easily spend more watching the coopers do their thing. The day that we went, the coopers were repairing bourbon barrels that would be used later to store an unspecified whisky. Really interesting process which makes you appreciate the... More

Hi Cole We aim to highlight a part of the industry that compliments the whisky making process and that you found it such is a great endorsement. You are correct in that we advise a 45 minute tour time - that is an average as you seen you can spend longer watching the coopers at work if your schedule permits.... More

After going to a distillery on the first day of our tour, I was interested to learn more about the whiskey process in Scotland. My family name is also Cooper, so maybe my ancestors had this profession! The film was interesting with heat and scent an added touch to immerse you in the story. After that, we went into the... we were eight on a whisky-tour, and opted for the VIP tour of the cooperage, which turned out to be one of the highlights of our stay in Speyside. Great tour-guide, amazing to see the coopers handle the barrels and shaping the wood, and the size and volume of the place itself is just impressive. Highly recommended for anyone remotely... More

Dear Tom What a huge compliment to be described as one of the highlights of your time in Speyside! The VIP tour does offer a little extra look behind the scenes with our guide Ronnie, himself an ex-cooper and I will be sure to pass on your comments. I hope you enjoyed the rest of your time in Speyside, Best... More

This is an amazing place to visit It's like going back hundreds of years in time to see an incredibly labour intensive system repairing original wooden barrels. Such a skill and a drop of whiskey or two to finish.

Barrel making is a very hand on job. Very interesting and very much a must see when doing a distillery tour.

Dear John Thank you for your review - you are quite correct in that there is very little automation used during the coopering processes. The team are glad you found the visit to be an interesting addition to your other tours. Best regards Gill More

We did not plan to visit the cooperage but we were so pleased we did. The tour was really informative and we had our own guide as we arrived early in the morning. The staff were all really friendly...we would recommend this as a real worthwhile tour location
