Largest falls on the Mekong
Jan 2020
This was a short ride from the Trapaing Kreal border crossing in Southern Laos. The falls are large by Asia standards but not compared to other major falls around the world. Nevertheless, they are worth a visit and the surrounding park is pretty and there are lots of viewing areas.

Impressive even in the Dry Season!
Feb 2020
Together with 25 other Anglo-Thai Society members, my wife and myself visited the Khone Phapeng Waterfalls - located on the Lao/Cambodian border - this morning.

We arrived by coach and the Main Entrance is in a nice gardened area. We then travelled the 5-10 minute journey to the Falls on a VIP Golf Cart.

On arrival - and despite it being the Dry Season - the Falls (reputed to be the best in SE Asia) are impressive. Indeed, the mind boggles what they would look like at their peak!

All in all a most enjoyable visit - enhanced by the fact we were practically the only visitors!

Visit to falls
Jan 2020
Sadly was underwhelmed at this time of year . Been spoilt by ignauzu and others around the globe .oversold by the locals . Probably worth a visit if you’re in the area . The Somohamit Falls are better and less crowded not that far away .

Impressive.

The admission fee (40K kip ordinary, 55K VIP) is high for an attraction in Laos, but the money has gone into developing good infrastructure. The VIP ticket buys you a buggy ride from the entrance to the viewpoint, saving you a ten minute walk. It is better value than Somphamit (Liphi) Falls on nearby Don Det (35K) which has been poorly developed.
The falls are not high, and do not drop vertically but crash over the rocks with impressive power. It is just one part of the world's widest falls. There are not many tracks to explore; an hour should be ample.

Gorgeous first stop in Laos
Jan 2020 • Friends
Having not long crossed from Cambodia into Laos, this is s must see. Beautiful walks around the impressive falls, with a restaurant nearby for a bite to eat with a view, and nice little drinks stalls and markets nearby too.

Asiatic place
Nov 2019
The place has been developed in a "Asiatic" way... good for buses full of Chinese and Thai. Entrance fee is expensive for what it is in real. Liphi waterfall and Khone Pa Soy waterfall are much better (and the second one is free). They are on Don Khone island.

Stunning Waterways!!!
Jul 2019 • Couples
This is a must see in Si Phan Don (aka 4,000 island). Easy access from the mainland. Entrance fee 55,000Kip per person per entry. Buggy service to bring tourist from main entrance to the viewing platform/ restaurant. There is a restaurant there with great view of the waterfall, but pricey food. We walked down from the viewing platform as there is a staircase walking down to enjoy the waterfall for a closer look. It was rocky and have to walk very carefully. It is a stunning waterfall and we are so impressed with this beautiful nature in Laos! We booked a guided tour via Asia Top Travel, hence the transportation was hassle free for us. This is one of the most impressive attractions in southern part of Laos!

Not a must see
Oct 2019 • Solo
I would recommend this just if you are coming from/ going to Cambodia. Otherwise you can just spend your time elsewhere. Nice views but you don’t spend more than 2h (unless you do the zipline). Not at all a must see. Iguaçu falls are much nicer
