Lovely church in the mountains.
Nov 2019 • Couples
Simple village church from the outside with a beautiful, warm interior. Yes, the exterior was the setting for the wedding band in the movie, The Godfather, along with other town locations. That may have been the central draw to this village, but the beauty of this village and this church stand on their own. Lively place.

Perfect Quiet View Town for Day Trip from Taormina
Oct 2019
We took the City Site Seeing bus and got off at the town of Forza d'Agro, one of the Godfather towns. It's such a pretty little rustic town and at noon, AvaMaria played on the town music system. The Assunta church is simple but authentic. We walked up the tiny street to a lovely cafe, Anni 60, with a beautiful view of the main church on the hill. We liked this town because there were fewer people and its great for taking photos of old buildings. Great views of the sea also. You can spend two hours there and two hours at Savoca, the other "Godfather" town but I wouldn't miss this one even though Savoca is recommended by many.

Part of the Godfather film tour
Jul 2019
We stopped here as part of a Godfather Tour. We were able to walk around inside. My husband enjoyed seeing this spot since he was a huge Godfather fan. I loved wandering the town photographing all the old, weathered doors and inviting small alleys.

More than a FIlm Set
Oct 2018 • Friends
Small and picturesque, nestled in a tiny hilltop town, people visit this church because it was featured in the film series The Godfather. It's well worth visiting as it has an impressive facade with killer volutes and the building's interior also features some wonderful stone and marble work along with nice statuary.

A very welcoming presence pervades the somewhat humble interior and you can see that it has been nicely maintained by this small Sicilian town.

Beautiful Cathedral from Coppola's Godfather Movie II in A Remote Mountaintop Village, Forza d'Agro
Sep 2017 • Couples
During our Mediterranean cruise aboard Royal Princess cruise ship in September 2017, I joined the ship's shore excursion at Messina, Sicily, which followed the steps of Coppola's Godfather in Sicily, starting with visit to "Savoca" followed by "Forza d'Agro". Both villages were chosen by the movie's Director Coppola as better representations of his movie's "Village Corleone" than the actual village named "Corleone" in Sicily.
The long drive up to the mountaintop Village of "Forza d'Agro" via narrow mountain road was harrowing, if not scary.
The scenery unfolding was beautiful enough for us to be distracted from the scary ride from time to time.
Forza d'Agro Village with serene and eerie atmosphere seemed to be surreal. "Cattedrale Maria SS. Annunziata e Assunta" with imposing facade had beautiful interiors. After admiring the interiors of the church, we walked out, and followed a narrow path toward "Chiesa SS. Trinita" (Trinity Church), another simple and yet beautiful church.
Then, we came back to the village piazza with restaurants and cafes for brief rest before boarding our bus to drive down along the harrowing mountain road again.
"Cattedrale Maria SS. Annunziata e Assunta" is a memorable church to visit, especially for the fans of Godfather movie series, and Forza d'Agro is also an interesting village to visit.

Nice church in a charming mountain coastal town
Sep 2017 • Couples
Another jewel in this charming village atop a mountain on the coast North of Taormina. Reportedly, for Godfather aficionados, 'the' church of one of the movie triad.

Feeling in The Godfather!
Jun 2017
It is always special to meet so iconic movies locations! Forza d'Agro is a small town near Toarmina, it is not outstanding place, but for the movie fans its is nice to see the church.
