You are in the Wilderness here and it feels like it. The Bowl is steep and often deep in powder. For some reason this used to be graded as a Blue Run, but now it is rightfully recognized as Black. From the far edge of the run there are some amazing views up the high Alpine valley toward Mt. Walter... More

Yes you have to climb a little bit to get up into Hunziger bowl but it's worth it. Not extreme like Kachina but still a big open bowl. some bumps near the entry but if you traverse along the top you'll find open spaces and if fresh snow you can make fresh tracks.. Really liked this bowl

This one is a bit out of the way, but worth the effort if you like a long steep and wide open trail all to yourself.

If you can ski the blues at TSV then you should try Hunziger Bowl. There is a long run off that allows you to build some speed and slow down before the next drop.

My son and I must've run this run 10 times during our spring break trip. You have to ski UP to it (or take your skis off and walk a little bit) so that keeps the masses off of it. It is basically a steep and straight black slope. Easily the fastest run at Taos.

Getting to the Hunziger Bowl does take some effort. You can ski right to it if you are coming down from Kachina. If you are coming off Lift #4, it's going to require a little hike. It is possible to side step up the hill, but it might be easier to take off your skis and walk up. It is... More

Getting to Hunziger requires a short hike, but it has improved since they changed the access point. It is now groomed periodically, so unlike years past, there are parts that are steep but not bumpy. If you are looking for ungroomed terrain, stay far to the right (going down) and take Totally Waird instead, if the snow conditions are good.

There has been a long time bumper sticker around that extolls Taos Ski experience: What's a four letter word for Taos? Steep....Now the joke is What's a six letter word for Taos? Closed! I can't count the number of days the entire back side of Taos' Ski mountains have been closed this year. And even when it is open, Hunziger... More

Best run on the mountain by far. Aggressive terrain with a short hike up to the start of the run. Never crowded, hidden & out of site with AMAZING views.

It a short uphill hike (about 150 ft.) that worth it, as the bowl is usually full of fresh, soft snow!
