- Natacha D1 contributionAmazingAbsolutely gorgeous place to stay. Spotlessly clean.Dog friendly. Lovely staff. Really helpful reception. Beautiful views. Great facilities. Comfortable, cosy and beautiful rooms. Honestly we will be back. This was to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday and it went superbly. Can't fault anything.Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten 31 March 2024
- davidhH6274LGNottingham, United Kingdom31 contributionsPenny Pinching General Manager put a damper on thingsBoth golf courses were good. The hotel rooms were OK if a little tight but the common areas were rather soulless. We did have a gripe over dinner, clearly they portion the meals out by the gram and whilst I can understand it is a competitive business we were surprised to be told we could not have any bread (with prawn cocktail and pate started) even if we offered to buy a slice, it was explained this is firm rule "on the specific instructions of the General Manager" Oh dear...Visited May 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 27 May 2024
- 346barneyPrestatyn, United Kingdom40 contributionsThree day golf breakJust back from a two night three rounds golf break. Given some of the rainfall I thought the courses were in good condition and enjoyed them both. We had a few elderly gents and the buggy hire rate is steep especially given some of the hills on the Hawkstone would make walking the course very difficult. Hotel was ok shower was broken in my room which to anyone cleaning inspecting would have been noticed. I did report to Reception so hopefully the next guest will benefit. Food in golf bar ok, evening meal the same breakfast good except the orange juice for price paid could have been concentrate and not like squash. No fresh fruit on Tuesday asked a member of staff and still not out 10 minutes later. Just some small attention to detail would improve things.Visited July 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 10 July 2024
- annemorleycam61 contributionsA superb golf trip was enjoyed by allAbsolutely perfect in every way We spent our Lady Captains Golf trip and Hawkstone - 3 days 2 nights The price was very good The hotel was lovely, the bedrooms, food, service was all superb The golf courses were excellent, we played both, the Championship for 2 days, the Old Course for 1 day - both were in superb condition, we were very lucky with the weather The food was very good, the portions were large and we certainly did not go hungry The facilities in the hotel restaurant and bar and the Golf Club itself were brilliant, the service was second to none We all had a fabulous time, made great by Hawkstone and the teams thereVisited July 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 16 July 2024
- S MLancashire, United Kingdom45 contributionsBeautiful golf course ..but that’s were the positive experience endsWe played the hawkstone golf course and it was Beautiful Our rooms were a bit tired especially the bathroom and shower but the room was clean so no real complaint their However the service from one member of staff in the bar was very rude We were hoping for brunch before we played but the only things on offer on the very limited breakfast menu of fried egg sausage or bacon on a baguette I asked if it would be possible to have any form of egg other than fried.ie poached scrambled or boiled and I would be happy to pay extra …the waitress went to the kitchen and returned saying the kitchen does not have the facilities to make any of those Really a kitchen doesn’t have water and a pan.. At this point their were only 8 other customers in the room so not exactly busy Hungry I ordered bacon on granary bread (as you can imagine the waitress rolled her eyes when I asked for granary ) When it arrived the bacon was dried up and tough I asked for ketchup and was told “it’s in the corner over their if you want it” At Dinner the food was pretty good except the commotion with the cheese and cracker dessert .when my friend asked for a hovis cracker, the rest of us had one but she had been missed out and these were her favourites The waiter returned saying they don’t have anymore hovis crackers and walked away My friend called him back and said well any chance I could have a different type instead he said the crackers are already portioned out..my friend wasn’t backing down out of principle and said she wasn’t happy that she had one less cracker than everyone else and a few minutes later he returned with 2 Jacob’s cream crackers on a plate..hilarious Breakfast offerings were much the same as yesterdays brunch menu, dried up bacon sausage or fried egg .Cornflakes, croissants, half a bowl of mixed fruit that looked well past its best before date .very poor small niggles and service issues like this wind people up …as it did us For this reason we won’t return, shame when they have a beautiful golf courseVisited July 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 16 July 2024

What can I say. An excellent golfing experience.
2 superb courses, beautifully maintained, both offering different challenges for all levels of golfer.
The Championship Course, a Par 72 with 4 par 5s and 4 par 3s, was arguably the better course. It was reasonably flat with the biggest bunkers I’ve ever seen. The 3 water holes reminded me a little of Amen Corner at Augusta.
The Hawkstone Course, a Par 72 with 3 par 5s and 3 par 3s, was a bit hillier, with only one water hole.
There are 2 practice greens, a pitching area and a driving range to dust away the cobwebs before teeing off and the very pleasant Lyles Bar for refreshments to quench that thirst or settle those nerves pre and post round. Here you can also get a decent bar meal once you’ve worked up your appetite.
There are also buggies and trollies available for extra cost.

Only thing letting our trip down was the weather. We didn’t get finished on the second day due to course flooding. But they’d had dreadful rain. They did however give us a free round voucher which was a nice touch
Very well organised Covid wise. Very clean. Food in clubhouse and hotel restaurant was hot and plentiful
Table service for drinks very quick and efficient. Staff great too
We will definitely go back

Had a wonderful time at the Hawkstone Park Hotel, first time we had been for NYE, beautiful decorations, food was fab, all staff very efficient, great to see them on the dance floor later !
Best bit though, live entertainment, brilliant young lady singing, going round all the tables to get people to join in, she really was amazing and so talented. Well done to all, wasn’t sure what to expect, but it was a brilliant night, with good friends. Thank you

Met up here for a socially distanced game of golf with 3 friends, green fee was £30 each for the Championship course. I thought this was good value, it's a fine course, in great nick with some stunning views, particularly around the folly hole. They seemed pretty weel geared up for Covid in the club house bar etc.
Couldn't fault the facilities and would have been a 5 start review but all the staff were pretty miserable, from the Pro's shop to the restaurant/bar. A simple smile and a 'have a nice round lads' would have gone along way.

3 of us have just returned from a play and stay and were blown away. The Hawkstone course is exceptional, the views of the Follies on the back 9 and the way the course is laid out is superb. The championship course is a very well laid out American style course which is also in excellent condition, especially the greens on both courses.
The rooms have recently been refurbished and are very nice, as are the staff.
For the price we paid (£145pp) it almost feels like daylight robbery!
Will 100% be back.

I stayed at this venue for a wedding reception at the nearby Hawkstone Hall and Gardens. I wish I had not.
I arrived at 13.30 to be told, abruptly checking was 1400. Both female receptionists went back to their
Phones. I could even see my key card ready on the side…
On checkin and getting to the room no iron, and the room was very dusty and dirty. Appears hadn’t been cleaned since 2020 Covid lockdown. Bed was soft and mattress had seen better days.
The facilities at the Hotel were not open so had to use the bar at the golf course. £6 for a Pint of
lager. Really?
Noise is awful in the hotel, banging doors, no soft closures, zero insulation. Woken at 0700. 2 stars given for the location.

Met some family that I hadn't seen in a long time. There was a big golfing do happening at rhe same time which were rather raucous and I couldn't hear conversation on my own table at times. The hotel should have perhaps separated our table away knowing they had a big party in.
Food wise- I had the pork belly which was lovely followed by the apple tart with clotted cream.
This had obviously been sitting a while in the kitchen as the clotted cream had started to melt all over the place. It was nice.
I didnt pay for the meal but I did see the prices- felt slightly overpriced for what you got compared to a fantastic meal the night before at the Bear Inn just down the road in Hodnet.

This was supposed to be a quality venue for golfers to enjoy themselves. We were expecting a level of service that reflects the two courses but found that the service and offering was sadly lacking. Over the course of three nights there was no service to the rooms which was presumably under the guise of Covid restrictions but those strict restrictions have been lifted.
The bar closed at 23.00 hrs with no opportunity for room service after. In spite of many golfers attending the golf shop had very little product and there was no availability of bar food in the afternoon when returning from golf. The breakfast offering was not very extensive and quite often they ran out of cooked food in spite of knowing how many people stayed at hotel. The venue could and would be a lot more profitable if it was managed professionally.

Why is hawkstone more expensive than the champion course ?
Written 21 August 2022
Can you please let me know what is the cost of buggiers for two days
Written 11 August 2018
Sorry, didn’t use buggies so didn’t check out the price. Nor could I see it quoted on the website but there is a facility to email the pro shop.

Two courses Hawkstone and Championship - any recommendations as to which is the better (group of golfers handicaps 10 -15 range?)
Written 11 March 2015
Two very different courses - the Hawkstone "old" course is very scenic, the Championship is American style, more water features, slightly more challenging. Try both of them!
