We stayed at a nearby B&B and were recommended this as a place for dinner. What we could not have expected was the establishment has recently opened and with it being a Monday night we were the only guests eating in the formal restaurant. As a consequence, the service was absolutely faultless which matched the surroundings and although the food quality could be described as very good, rather than excellent, I would highly recommend it for a special event.

What I hate most is a deceitful hotel which deliberately withholds information. We booked in. Bearing in mind we are in our 70’s we were given a room which involved 3 flights of stairs but worse it was over a function room in which live music was played from 8-12 pm. So loud thought we were on stage with them. By the time we found out it was too late to do anything but lose sleep.
The restaurant is more like a cafeteria where the aim is to serve food as fast as they can with little care. No one came to the table to check if everything was ok. Several of us had dietary needs but the answer from waiting staff was always yes. One ladies wanted no garlic on her sea bass. Waiter brought out 3 plates and handed them around. When lady asked if this was one without garlic answer yes!!!! How would he know???? Surely he should have brought out single dish and asked who wanted no garlic.
Drinking is more like being in a pub than hotel where you queue up for drinks rather than have orders taken at tables.
Ok if you like that thing but not for us.
Be very careful if you book here and check what live music they have on if you want a decent nights sleep.

Arrived to play 2 rounds of golf and have a very much needed weekend away together as we are a busy working couple.
The course should not have been open let alone allowing trolleys.
Shocking reception at reception, NO people skills.
Booked our evening meal for 18.45. At 18.45 we were turned away from eating at that time.
Into the bar 2 drinks later I had to check my bank account to see the price we had paid as the bar staff would not tell me the price and no receipt available.
Called to our table late the food was mediocre with management and service staff having no skills what so ever.
Kids running round our table so we couldn’t relax, guests allowed to come in and dine in shorts and flip flops.
The room reeked of human excrement with the toilet not cleaned from someone having a poo.
Retiring to our room after being up since all 04.30 to travel we have a wedding disco not 10 feet away.
Alarm set for 03.00 in the morning, not staying for breakfast or our second round of golf.
Rip off @yourgolftravel.

Spent four hours at Hawkestone Park. Initially I was a bit unsure, as I had the impression that it would be the same as most other parks. How wrong was I!! You start off walking through the main entrance where there was a friendly, helpful guy who explained what to expect. We were given a map which outlined routes and things to see. Straight away the adventure started with paths that led through forest and jungle like foliage. There was structures to view, amazing views over the countryside and caves, bridges and tunnels to walk through and explore. It was themed for the kids, who had to find trolls and fairies. There was huts that you could have a rest in. The best part of the journey was at the end, where the caves and tunnels were. We walked up a ravine called the cleft which was unreal. My seven year old doesn’t normally like walking but he didn’t complain once. It is quite a strenuous walk, if you take the longest route, but it is wel worth it. Well worth the money.

We spent a few hours here... walking, climbing up and down steps- enjoying great views
It is a great day out but for those of us who are older it could do with more benches/seats around the journey where we could take a rest
Also it would be wise to take bottles of water as there are no refreshments apart from the shop at the start
And take a torch if you do the caves my iPhone light was ok but not bright enough really
Wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather
It’s a wonderful experience

Follies at stately hones have always fascinated me so when I learnt this place was so close to home and had around 30 I had to visit. Four adults and three teenagers. I expected a ramble and photo opportunities at the follies but it’s an amazing wonder through a forest and caves and more.
You need a good level of fitness and there’s lots of steps, it gets slippy so good footwear is needed. We spent just over 3 hours there and used the more strenuous routes but there are easier ones and these are clearly sign posted.
Little gift shop and tea room on site.
Amazing views
You need a torch and a camera

Fab place to go walking, with Grandkids or Dogs or both, its a lvly place to explore fantastic scenery, loads of trees, and of course allsorts to stop and play on around the place, the Caves are really good (take a torch). Loads of different paths to explore bridges to go across, The area is well looked after and plenty of places to have a picnic or just to rest your legs after all the climbing up the many steps, some areas are alittle tricky esp for people like me with little legs but all manageable. There is tearoom and toilets before you start off which is dog friendly, and can buy water for your walk ahead, also half way round near to the giant deck chair there is also a kiosk selling ice-creams and drinks which is good to know. It's all very well signed around the place about each path your on and where its leading to.

Defo worth a day out in the open air enjoying the views and woodland around. Not suitable for pushchairs which they do say on there website and at the entrance. Reasonably priced to £8.25 per adult, sensible footwear and defo take a camera.

I have been visited this establishment for many years, some of the previous owners may have left much to be desired but today I see a hotel that is undergoing change, a hotel that is committed to providing customers with the very best service.

My only concern would be the quality of some of the food...most of the time it's good but there is instances of not so good food.

The rooms are dated but they are investing in a whole new look for next year.

This is a great hotel and we'll worth a visit..

The young man that greeted us was exceptional he was friendly and approachable. And this was the best part of our stay. The double room was small and in need of a lot of TLC. there was stains on the carpet and the furniture was tired and in need of replacing. The food was delicious breakfast and dinner was very tasty. the lady who served breakfast was less than attentive and although she wasn't rude she seemed more interested in attending the empty tables than those eating.
