Oda Nobuhide (Oda Nobunaga’s father) built Iwasakijō to protect his eastern territory sometime before 1529. It was conquered in 1529 by Matsudaira Kiyoyasu (Tokugawa Ieyasu’s grandfather), and made his headquarters. My son is studying at a local university and we went to this castle as part of a basic tour of his area. It is small but interesting. Unfortunately it doesn't cater for non Japanese visitors as there is no translations of the shogun story or of any of the exhibits. It looks like there was once an interesting battle... More
