We went in search of the mummies of Ferentillo – what an adventure that was! It rained most of the day….making for some interesting driving over the mountains. We got lost for a while and were about to give up finding Ferentillo when we stumbled on it. This little village is built on the side of a cliff – no... More

we were very lucky to spend holidays in Ferentillo, during their annual special town festival. Due to this festival, there was a possibility, to have a nocturne visit, of the mummies museum. this added to the mystery of this place. it is a nice, little museum, with very well preserved mummies. not expensive and well maintained.

This was a very interesting and vivid look into the history of these people. The way the corpses have been preserved is extraordinary. I didn't find this creepy, our teenagers loved it and our nine year old was only a little freaked out ;-).

My overall feeling after visiting the ferentillo mummies was "creepy". A bit of a challenge to find the right place to buy your ticket and then another place to enter the church, but once inside the creepiness takes over. All mummies were naturally preserved and very much intact. Each comes with a story, how they came to the town, who... More

probably the scariest place i've ever been to. The museum is beaten up basement under a church and the mummies are kept in glass boxes without lid. The thing is that its not mummies as you might expect - they are just dried up people, complete with clothes on. There is a small child who still has eye balls and... More

Visited the mummies in Ferentillo after a recommendation from a friend. Very interesting exhibit and a fascinating piece of local history. We'll worth the price of entry.

This not very well known attraction was listed in a local guidebook so we decided to make the few hour long excursion from where we were staying in Montefalco, Umbria. The church was a bit hard to find and we were among only 6 visitors during the time we were there. The mummies were very easily seen, being separated from... More
