Quiet and peaceful, matching with the atmosphere of the town, as in the streets hardly can you find more than 20 people walking in noon, with the exception of school children leaving school

We took a train to Tsuruga and visited this shrine while in the town. It was nice and peaceful with no crowds. However the famous Torii entrance gate - one of the largest in Japan, was completely covered in scaffolding and was disappointingly not visible....More

Beautiful example of a Buddhist shrine. The grounds are immaculate as most shrines are. The monks are very friendly. They even have a old koi pond with turtles

This is another one of the many many shrines in Japan. There is not much that makes this different than the many other ones. Nice visit...worth about half an hour. Interesting little town of Tsuruga so makes for a nice walk. Winter is a bear...here....expect...More
