If you're a cyclist, try to rinko your bike further down the coast so you can work your way up through the various (large) beaches and through the whole Kamakura area. I'd suggest heading out here as a day trip from Tokyo. There's quite a...More

My wife and I visited this Island as part of a day tour of the Kamukura District. This Island is a small place and can be accessed by a traffic bridge. There are 3 sets of escalators that are used for going up the hill,...More

Great spot to walk around and enjoy sights. The Sea candle tower was wonderful to explore - worth the couple hundred yen.

We started the day catching a train from Shinjuku to Fujisawa. From here we went on the Enoshima Electric Railway and went right to the end to Kamakura. Kamakura was a great little town with a fabulous street with lots of shops, restaurants and shrines....More

I think it was too hot in August when we went, and I'm not the biggest shrine fan. We stayed three nights on the island at a nice home. But if you want to escape Tokyo, I suppose this is one way. From the train...More

Last time I was on Enoshima was 1998. There are s not a big change, still nice to walk along the beach. The food stalls are overpriced for a lousy food quality, to my understanding. However it's a touristy place and it's to be expected.

Sep2016. I walked over a long bridge (no shade so be prepared to be baked by the sun or else bring an umbrella) and I reached the small Enoshima island. Almost all the footpaths on Enoshima island are up/down hill. Not much flat areas. The...More

There are three ways to get there. 1. From Jr. Hiratsuka train station, take local Tokaido line train that heads Tokyo/Yokohama, and get off at Fujisawa station. And then, transfer to Enoden train that heads to Kamakura... More

Tattoos are generally frowned upon in Japan. However, since it is a beach and not a private spa, there will be no one to deny you entry. If you are worried, try to be discreet about it.
