I think it was too hot in August when we went, and I'm not the biggest shrine fan. We stayed three nights on the island at a nice home. But if you want to escape Tokyo, I suppose this is one way. From the train...More

Last time I was on Enoshima was 1998. There are s not a big change, still nice to walk along the beach. The food stalls are overpriced for a lousy food quality, to my understanding. However it's a touristy place and it's to be expected.

If you're in one of the big cities and have a JR pass with you, it would be wise to also plan an escape cor 1 day or 1/2 a day. Enoshima is just lovely. Also, impress your friends by telling them that the sand...More

A beautiful place with magnificent Shrines. A nice area to feel and enjoy the local culture. A wonderful point of view at the sunset to get the best picture of Mount Fuji.

Spectacular view and nice local food. It's not far from the tram station, just cross the bridge. Worth spending a morning or afternoon. If lucky (nice weather), could see Mount Fuji (we couldn't because it was cloudy).

The island wasn't packed, as it was a windy, rainy day. We still enjoyed reaching the top and seeing the views.

There are three ways to get there. 1. From Jr. Hiratsuka train station, take local Tokaido line train that heads Tokyo/Yokohama, and get off at Fujisawa station. And then, transfer to Enoden train that heads to Kamakura... More

Tattoos are generally frowned upon in Japan. However, since it is a beach and not a private spa, there will be no one to deny you entry. If you are worried, try to be discreet about it.
