If you visit Misaki Port this is one walk you need to consider. It will take a couple of hours but, although it is undulating, it's not very arduous. The floating volcanic lava has folded into marvellous shapes during cooling (a long, long time ago, so don't worry) so there is a firm, grippy foothold when climbing. Excellent photo opportunities... For me it was an enjoyable escape from the city. I like the small town feel for Jogashima Island. Good food, swimming, fishing, light house hunting, hiking and excellent views. Had a delicious Meguro bowl underneath the bridge, saw ßa few lighthouses, hiked around the entire Island, and enjoyed some spectacular views. Definitely a half a day trip. Pray for... More

We took a day trip here and stayed 4-5 hrs. Parking in town was ¥700. We walked down a little street that had a couple of souvenir shops and some restaurants. We ate corn on the cob and fresh sashimi which was very good. The beach area is sand and then hard rock. There are two lighthouses and a gorgeous... More

If you like nature this is the place for you! Take the bus or boat from Misaki port. We took the boat (¥300 one way and less than 5min) Walk straight to the bridge and after a few minutes you will see a parking lot in front of the bus stop. Across the parking lot there is a tunnel, go... More

Nice rocks and cliffs facing the Pacific Ocean; a maintained park area for picnic and hiking. Made friends with stray cats for 10-15 minutes. Good seafood at port restaurants. Visited by rented out bicycle at Urari marketplace in Miura Port (bridge is free for pedestrians and bicycle), after a quiet stroll in the deserted beaches of Miura Kaigan. Misaki is... More

What a place! We found the paths neatly sober. The viewpoints very well located, tracks in very good condition. Wie visited as a party of 8, amongst 4 little-ones. It worked out quite well to follow the shoreline towards the next small port. Plenty of restaurants over there. Very typical. No international family-restaurant avaiable!

The island itself is very tiny and quiet. Went to the park and had freshly grilled turban shell for the first time! It was kind of scary looking but it was yammy ;-)

Jagoshima is a small island connected by a bridge to the Miura Peninsula. It has many hiking paths and parks you can visit with a view of the ocean from all sides. Nice place to have a picnic!!
