Takashima Castle and the surrounding town are small but pleasant. The reconstructed tenshukaku (donjon) has an imitation wood paintjob and strips of copper plating for roof tiles and so its appearance is refreshingly different. This style is consistent throughout all of the structures at the...More

This is a nice place to relax a bit and walk around the garden, the colours are great as well if you visit it during November! The castle itself is rather small, but it should keep you busy for about an hour.

Quite small castle by Japanese standards. But unlike many castles they are not keeping just the main tower but trying to create the original idea of the place with smaller buildings, service sheds, etc. Nice for a short walk.
