Wide expanse fine sand shelving gradually down to the sea, so good for families with small children. Also sea is shallow for some distance. An area is marked out for use by surfers and at our visit the surf was definitely up! Plenty of parking but you might have to walk some distance to the beach. A shallow river runs... More

Beautiful clean beach with lovely sand and plenty of space. Steps down to the beach would make it difficult for some people to access

We often go down to walk our dogs along this beach early in the mornings it's so lovely. The beach has plenty of golden sand and some rocks at the other side were the dogs like to play. This is a lovely beach and well worth the visit if your in the area.

Ocean and river side beaches- ocean is choppy to river would be better for bathing. Lovely and clean with soft white sand. It was deserted when we visited in March. There is parking spaces and a toilet there. Worth a visit! Another great beach.

Lovely beach when tide is out - very similar to Cornwall's north coast but about ten degrees warmer.

This is not the summer season, so we expected to see few people on the beach. We actually had the beach to ourselves. We enjoyed the sound of the waves rolling in and crashing on the rocks on the side of this wonderful beach (so far our favourite Algarvan beach). We also had no problems finding a parking spot (again,... More

We were visiting all the beaches and this one is perhaps one of my favorite. Not many people around, the river bed can be seen emptying itself into the sea. The lovely rock formation and a very large beach...all for us to enjoy in peace and serenity.

For me it is simply the best beach in Portugal. You can choose between the sea side or the river side if you have small kids. Very nice spot for surfers.

Very pretty beach with a wonderful cliff top walk with beautiful views. A little bracing in January, but certainly warmer than England! We were advised to stick very carefully to the path due to cliff erosion, made worse by the recent torrential rain. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

We walked to the beach from Odeceixe on a sunny December day. Nice walk, amazing beach. We crossed the river somewhere along the beach and walked back on the north side. Great half-day trip;-)
