It should be a waterfall of hot spring. When I arrived there, I could not see any steam. Perhaps the weather was not cold enough. You can drive there and park at the roadside. Or just walk there from Kirishima Onsen Market.

It is very cold in winter. You can access easily by foot.Unless you go to the hot spring nearby, it is okay but not a must.

Maruo is located at a 3 way junction. Down from Iwasaki Hotel, if you continue straight down you will be at the Kagoshima Airport, if you turn left there the road leads to Kishirima shrine. The waterfall is on the way to Kirishima and not so far away from the Maruo bus stop(the sign said 250 meters). I was worried... More

When you are experiencing Kirishima Spa resort a must see spot. It's easy to reach by car and even by foot if you are in the area. You don't need to trek or climb to enjoy this nice waterfall. It's definitely worth a picture!

It is a beautiful waterfall near Maruo Onsen. You can take a walk while waiting for a bus, for example. The kiosk nearby is temporary closed.

The advantage of taking a taxi (or driving yourself) is that you can stop and admire the waterfall. On the road from the station to the Kirishima Spa Resort. Additionally if has been raining you will get an opportunity of seeing a good flow of water which makes a good picture opportunity.
