It is almost recovered from the 2011 tsunami

It is a #1 fishing port for tuna in Japan. Fresh seafood restaurants are around here. The Shark Museum is back. It is a typical fishing boat harbor for fishing industry.

Interesting from the perspective of what happened, tear jurking to think what it would have been like. I found 1 interesting shop with elderly man who struck up a conversation on pottery and laquire ware that was it except off the beaten track lots of little places with plants & bonsai trees which made my 2 night stop worth it.... More

even with the carnage from 3.11 everywhere, every view from the port area is just stunning. I can see why so many people flocked here to visit and live. wow.
