Some things you do as items on an agenda are incidental; like discovering the crazy world of Osaka nightlife on the "other side" of town. If there is an opposite to crazy, it would be peace, or a discussion might propose. Tadao Ando's design, I would argue, cares little for either for the maddening nor peaceful worlds. He has only... I've been hearing and reading about Tadao Ando and really pleased to visit the Church. This was not in our travel plan but luckily a Japanese friend of ours brought us here. Too bad that it was close. We were told that it would be best to call in advance so as to get more information on the schedule.

The Church of the Light is a good opportunity to see one of Tadao Ando’s most famous projects in relatively close proximity to Osaka. Make sure to check the Church’s website on the days/times available to visit. To get to the Church, we took the train to Ibaraki station, which was only about a 15 minute ride from Osaka station.... You need to book a reservation via their website to be able to go in, and they only have specific days per month that guests are allowed to visit, posted two months prior. Access to the Church is straightforward. Get off at JR Ibaraki Station and get on the bus to Kasugaokakoen, which is the last stop. Went here as... More

Visited on a Sunday afternoon and really liked this place and the architecture - very peaceful. Make sure to call them and ask for the times you can enter the church - that's where you see the real magic and how the light plays! Was here for about 2 hours I guess, but I wanted to stay longer!

In the vicinity, 1,5 km from, of the Osaka Expo 1972 location is an interesting concrete church by Tadao Ando. From outside, only on Sunday's you can visit it inside, you can see the play with light that makes this place a three stars location.
