This street is one of the main ones where merchant families lived (like the Ban family), and the city has some museums dedicated to them. The Ban House is interesting, there are kimonos, folding screens, etc., and an overview of the history of the house. This place also holds links with Michigan and Kansas, so it's more interesting to me.... More

you must take a look and take a morning walk here when you visit shiga ken. the old houses were still there. it seems like youre walking on a different era of japan as you walk by.
