My wife and I stayed here for 1 night during our Shikoku vacation. We really splurged on an open bath suite as it was the only really pricey place we stayed during our 4 week Japan vacation and I have to say it was well worth it! Ideally we would want to stay 2 nights but we made the most... More

From the moment they pick you up from Oboke Station, there is a warm and enthusiastic welcome. We had the enthusiastic one, a driver with excellent broken English who managed to convey quite a lot about the spectacular Iya Gorge on the way up, stopping for photos. The hotel has a high Onsen in the hotel and a special bottom... More

This hotel is quite remote and we drove there. It has amazing views. We had booked a Japanese style room which wasn't really my husband's idea of fun but I enjoyed it for a night. We weren't quite clear on the etiquette - did we have to wear the kimono for dinner or not? Dinner was a full kaiseki meal... More

The Oboke and Iya area is a gem in Shikoku. The whole area is surrounded by tall green trees. The landscape is fantastic and stunning. This onsen hotel was built on a slope near the top of the hill. My husband and I stayed there for two nights. The rooms were all newly renovated. It’s a pity that the view... More

My wife and I spent 3 days here on our honeymoon. Our room was spacious and refined with an unreal view of the valley. Outdoor bath with hot water from the spring. The meals were yet another highlight. Come with an appetite to every one!

The ryokan is hidden in the hillside and has only few rooms which makes it nice and cosy. The suite we had had a wonderful view to the valley. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and can manage simple English well.

The care with which we were looked after here was lovely, as you would expect considering it is pricey. However, travelling with a 2 year old can be challenging (especially in a paper clad room!) and yet they made us feel like she was very welcome. She had her own special tableware for our special dinner and they were happy... More
