Nice temple. Good to see all three after walking the Kumano Kodo. Easy 15minute walk from the station and also close to the castle ruins.

Walking around Shingu is a lot of fun and it added to the enjoyment of shrines like this. This shrine was extremely orange. Very, very orange. Like fresh paint. There is also a neat old tree on the grounds. It's good luck for your travels...More

One of the must stop places on the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage. The grand shrine Hayatama is located at the end of the small orange bridge. It is quite a splendid sight.

Unlike the shrine in Hongu, this one is bright orange and a lot smaller. I love the massive knotted rope above the entrance. Spend a serene hour here.

Located in the heart of Shingu City, this is a beautifully maintained shrine that invites contemplation. The grounds are big enough to stroll around, and the river is nearby.

This is the second of the three great sites on the Kumano Kodo. Compared to the Hongu Taisha, which is calm and understated, the Hayatama is bright and relatively small. It's a lovely site, easy to get around on foot in a half-hour or so...More
