Been to few caves and I have to say this is up there with the best , not so much caves as volcanic tunnels this just adds to the interest of them , we had an excellent guide make sure you visit the visitors centre...More

The visit to the volcanic caves at Sao Vicente was one of the highlights of our visit to Madeira. The tour of the caves itself is great, with lots to see; guide tour in Portuguese and English. Exhibitions give the history of volcanoes and much...More

Great day out! It takes 1.5 hours all visit even lady says it is 30min. 6 euros per person. You will spend 30min walking with guide in tunnels and enjoy lava walks and after 30min in museum and watching movies.

Interesting. We like the fact that we were actually walking inside an extinct volcano. The guide was good and spoke English. Be prepared to get dropped on.

Good to visit these caves on a duller day, although where they are in a beautiful steep valley looks better when the sun’s out. I paid only €6 for a senior ticket which was extremely good value and you have to wait until a reasonable...More

Like other reviewers we chose to go on a very wet day. As previously noted, it was very wet inside. I have been in many limestone caves around the world & this volcanic rock was the wettest by far! There is a very good introductory...More

This tour begins with a rather pathetic display about how a volcano erupts - which might appeal to a young school child but was far too basic for an adult. I did, however, enjoy reading the display about how volcanoes have been treated in mythology....More

It's roughly 10 Euro each, tours take place every 45 minutes but there is a coffee shop so you can grab a drink while you wait.
