Modern gallery with 2 small exhibit rooms. You can see Mt Yotei from the museum. The staff was very friendly. She made us a cup of coffee each when we arrived.
You get to learn about Shu Ogawara and enjoy his artworks. I believe the museum has seasonal exhibits (you can find out more on their website)--- they were showing the "little dogs exhibit" when we were there.
You can use the ticket to visit the Kutchan Natural History museum opposite the carpark.

what a super cool gallery. The artist was excellent. Too bad he is not here with us. His painting must cost a lot of money.

Came here by accident. Nice gallery, cool artist. Paintings not on sale but probably can’t afford them anyway. Must see.

Followed the tourist map and walked across town in the melting snow. Gallery building is modern and architecturally stunning, but the local art exhibits were very small.

There is a small shop and library. Best to check the current exhibits before track across town.

It is definitely worth spending a few hours at the Shu Ogawara art gallery. Besides the artist's colorful art pieces, the gallery exudes a peaceful atmosphere with its zen deco and architecture. It is also surrounded by a picturesque backdrop of greeneries and mountains. We were very fortunate to be treated to a solo performance of the Koto, a Japanese 13- string instrument, while we were there that day. Overall, a very pleasant cultural experience for my wife and I.

We had a two day storm for our ski week. Cabin fever set in so we took the train to Kutchan and walked to the Museum. It was worth the effort. Shu Ogawara's paintings we great.

Fantastic building with a decent display of some fascinating works. I spent about an hour here as there is also a 20minute video you can watch in a little room which I highly recommend. It shows real footage of places and things that Shu painted

Shu Ogawara is a famous artist in this part of Japan. The gallery mainly shows his works but has special displays of other artists too. There are two rooms each with 20 or so pieces. Ogawara's works are of a variety of subjects and a variety of styles- portraits, landscapes, still life, village scenes, animals, etc, but all are interesting. It's not abstract. It takes less than an hour to see the museum. Plenty of parking outside.
