Amazing walk

You have to take a few hours to hike and enjoy the amazing mountains and nature around the viaduct, you don't even have to be a Harry Potter fan!!

So I am not a great Harry Potter fan, but were driving to Mallaig and saw the signs so thought we should stop. It was a cold January day and the visitor centre was closed, it still said that you had to pay to park, but as we were the only ones there we didn't bother. There is a path... More

It was raining - unsurprising. Yet, off we went to view the viaduct! A short walk up a slightly dodgy path and you can see it for all its glory. Sadly didn't see the Hogwart's Express and it was a shame the visitor's centre was shut though. I wouldn't travel for miles to see this, but of you're in the... More

Walked up the short 5 minute walk to the viewpoint at the Glenfinnan Monument. Worth the walk, amazing and beautiful old viaduct, loved it.

The viaduct and the monument are well worth a visit! The visitor centre is closed in the winter but the car park is open (£2). There is a view from above the visitor centre, but the journey to the base of the viaduct is only around 5-10 minutes and definitely worth getting up close to. Harry Potter fans will love... More

Stunning scenery all around, makes fantastic photos and is a must for any Harry Potter fan. Shame the visitor center is closed until April

There is a parking lot in which to park so that you may walk down to the rail bridge. It isn't as clean-looking as the pictures and the movie represent. There was some debris around the base of it, but it's a pretty amazing engineering sight. The lake, the visitor centre (only open April-October), and the Prince Charlie monument are... More

Stopped to look at the viaduct close up.Obviously not busy being mid December.Took a stroll to the base and it is really amazing how they built the viaduct all those years ago.If you are a fan of Harry Potter, british engineering, history or train travel then there is something for you all here.
