This eighteenth-century windmill was operational until 1913, milling corn for animal feed. It is a complex construction of wood and metal wheels, chutes, and stones. The visit is only for those who can climb and descend ladders but the four levels present interesting parts of the operation so well worth it if in the area. There's nothing much else around,... Very beautiful building, it was closed when we went as out of season so could not go inside. However you can walk down to it for a look as its on a public footpath.

If you are on the IoW and in the Bembridge vicinity, the windmill is an interesting place to visit. A visit will probably take around an hour, and as such we were put off visiting by the entrance fee until we became National Trust members. You can go right up unside the windmill, see how it worked and read /... More

We discovered about this attraction from information where we were staying. We visited whilst exploring the East of the Island. Really worth a visit as they have restored retained it as it would have been. Only opens in summer so check National Trust website. Not great for the infirm as access is by steep steps - almost ladders. Great for... More

Interesting building with all its original parts although not in working order. As it is a small building the visit is fairly short and can be a little tight if there are lots of people. We left having enjoyed the visit but felt that the entry charge was too expensive.

This windmill is expensive to visit and there is very little to see. Very steep ladder type steps so no good for people with little mobility.

There is not much to see in the Windmill. No clear sign at the entrance. When we asked about it at the hotel the reception first gave us direction to the windmill pub. When we showed her the picture on the pamphlet she went and called someone about information for the Windmill .

This is very well done, but you do need to start at the top and work your way down to understand the milling process. We saw people do the opposite and didn't really understand what they were looking at. There are very steep and narrow staircases (very safe if you come down backwards) to the top so you'll need a... We called with our bikes and staff helpfully let us put then inside the site. Windmill interesting but compact. Very steep ladder like stairs inside which you have to descend backwards, would be unsuitable for anyone with limited mobility. But great views from outside.

Plenty of information available on the history and use of this windmill. Need to be quite agile to climb uo inside and fully see the way ot worked. Suitable for all ages and a it's free for National Trust members. For walkers it is a nice walk from Bembridge seafront.
