Nice little moderate hike

While I prefer to do the work at the beginning of the hike, this one takes you down first and back up at the end. It's well worth the effort.

We visited in late April and were surprised to find the trails almost deserted. Fortunately, someone was there to take our admission fees and point us in the right direction. Gorgeous waterfall, pictures really don't do it justice. We hiked to the bottom, and although it is a moderate hike I was grateful for my trekking poles. We saw deserted... More

Amazing waterfall park and gardens! There were so many hummingbirds at the entrance, we got some lovely photos. The waterfall itself is spectacular and the climb to and from was moderate and rewarding. We saw a snake which was cool. Not too busy, well worth the drive! Friendly, helpful staff. An absolute must see! Highly recommended.

Catarata del Toro is a wonderful waterfall to visit. The facilities are top-notch. It's a world-class place to watch and photograph hummingbirds including the violet sabrewing which lives here in abundance. After entry, you are almost immediately hit with the expansive view of catarata del toro and the classic photo opportunities. The walk to this view is easy and flat.... More

We did a quick stop to view this beautiful, massive waterfall on the way to the Arenal area. The volcano nearby had erupted that morning and the water was grey due to the volcanic ash. Very cool to see, but would have liked to have seen the clear water too! Note that you must pay the full amount (about 15... More

It is a very nice waterfall and a well maintained path down to the viewing point, but 14$ is ridiculous! I think last year it was 10$, according to previous posts, and in my opinion a 40% raise can be hardly justified, except with greed! And by the way you will get your change in Colones.

My boyfriend and I had the opportunity to do the Blue rapids FULL day tour. We couldn't have been happier with our experience. It was a full day (6-7 hrs) that brought us down to the most amazing river. The water was a milky baby blue colour and we saw soo many magnificent waterfalls that I lost count (somewhere around... Highly recommend coming to this small town to see the waterfalls or cataratas. The hike is moderate, about 5 kilometers (2.5 miles), and offers beautiful sites along the way. Certain times of year the water is very blue like the glacier lakes in Canada. I suggest wearing good shoes, as rocks and crossing rivers can be slippery, especially during the... More

Hosts were super accommodating. They made us dinner when we got in a little later, were extremely helpful and friendly, and you can't beat the view of the waterfall! The hike down is pretty easy and the food was wonderful-- try the homemade hot sauce. :) Perfect rustic hide-away.

When we went, it was raining, so the lodge looked close and there was no one else there. We paid the entrance fee and hiked down, which was quick (25 mins) and easy if you are in shape (tough if you don't exercise). The falls are impressive from a lot of different angles. It is just unexpected from the entrance... More
