To get on a chair, you'll walk on a conveyor belt so you'll be timed accordingly to the vacant chair looming up behind you, so all you have to do is sit down (staff will guide you). So your bags need to be carried in front of you. There's no safety bar to prevent you from falling over, but you'll... More

Super fun, great views, and exciting to not have to wear a seatbelt. It's a great way up the mountain-i highly recommend!

We really enjoyed taking the chairlift down because it gave us an opportunity to see the fall leaves in another view. Also, it was quiet and not hectic so we were able to enjoy the peacefulness of the area.

We paid JPY480 per person, one way down hill ride, the queue was long but moving quite fast. It was very exciting to see people moving so quickly up and down the chairlift and the reason l chose this mode to go down hill was i expected it to be fun and full of thrill. I wasn't disappointed, in fact,... More

We took the chairlift down which offered probably the same views as the cable car up, but wider open and with fresh air. Getting on and off a bit tricky for me, but my younger companion had no trouble.

Want to take a different mode of transportation? The chairlift might be for you. Just a short ride to the top and you are surrounded by nature. Enjoy the ride!

When you arrive a Takao Mountain, you have 3 choices, hike up, cable car up or chair lift. The same thing to come down. I chose to go up with the cable car, and down with the chair lift. My husband decided to hike down. The one way fare is 470 yen for both cable car and chair lift, The... More
