Stunning views and a peaceful location
Sep 2019
We stayed in Vic and this was only a short drive from the city. Plenty of similar places but this was an amazing location. A 5 minute walk from the car park with views to the left and the right. Very dramatic location.

Only 3 Euros entrance fee. This is a small place designed for a max of 12 monks. The renovation works completed around 20 years ago sympathetic to the original fabric and they have made it easy to see any 'new build' alongside the original building. Loved the smallness and simplicity of the place.

We spent the afternoon with KayakSau - see our review on this activity, on the reservoir below the monastery. A memorable day of contrasts.

Peaceful monastery with beautiful views and friendly cat!
Aug 2019 • Family
The monastery was very quiet and peaceful on the day we visited. It’s fairly easy to get to up a winding path and has ample car parking facilities. A short walk with stunning views over the gorge takes you to the monastery, which is small but interesting and beautiful. Our visit was made all the sweeter by the arrival of the very friendly monastery cat who was very affectionate! Would highly recommend for a morning/half-day trip.

Nice views, top location, good renovation

I only hate the fact that the guy at the entrance doesn’t give tickets, just takes the cash but you are not sure if the money goes to the govt and not in his pockets.

Amazing

Worth the visit just to walk where others did so many years ago. Good history write ups and designs of life back then. Is in good shape considering its age. A tad difficult walk in if you have issies walking bit mostly good for all ages. Lively scenery above mountains and lakes

Stunning location, great views of the valley of the Ter and the Panta de Sau
Dec 2017 • Family
The former Monastery can be reached by car or on foot using a footpath from the nearby Parador. It was built in the eleventh century and has been sympathetically restored having fallen into disuse.

The legend of how and why the monastery was built is told in an audi visual presentation which is in Catalan, no subtitles I'm afraid but not too hard to follow...

It makes an interesting trip and has a nice looking restaurant. The location is spectacular with great views of the Ter River and the Panta de Sau reservoir from which you can still see a protruding church tower when the water level falls.

Grounds make it young child friendly
Aug 2017 • Family
We were 7 adults and 7 young children so lucky there are no longer more monks here taking vows of silence! Fantastic views, grounds for the kids to let some energy of and just the right amount of info in the buildings themselves to feel like you've learnt something AND kept an eye on the kids. Worth it and check out the view of the church spire poking out of the reservoir as you drive up.

Beautiful walk stunning site
Aug 2017 • Family
We walked from the parador on the well marked path with gorgeous views of the reservoir and then river beyond. It's 4K, so allow a good hour to enjoy it. The restaurant was fantastic. Excellent menu and delicious food. The bread/ tomatoes/ allioli was great. We had a variety of tapas then pasta bolognese fish and potatoes asparagus salad and chorizo all great with good service. The monastery is much restored and only costs 3€. Well worth the visit. Leisurely walk back to parador. Perfect day out for all.

Wonderful Building and Atmosphere
Jun 2017 • Friends
Best to check opening times before visiting. We walked 3.5 kilometres there (and back) to find it closed! Drove there the next day and were stunned by the views and atmosphere. There is a great audio visual display showing the restoration of the site in the 1930's - no English subtitles but it is very easy to follow. Very good cafe at the entrance with reasonable food cold drinks and ice cream! This has been one of the highlights of our Spanish Tour. The local Parador has equally stunning views - we stayed one night but but found the food and service not up to usual Parador standards.

Great views and very atmospheric
Jun 2017 • Couples
This small monastery is in a fantastic setting on a peninsular high above the River Ter so the views are spectacular. Its small but very atmospheric and beautifully restored. The entrance fee is only 3 Euros and half price for over 65's. There is an interesting and informative introductory video ( with English subtitles ) - try to see this before your visit. We walked from the Parador de Vic Sau - its a nice walk and very well marked and took us about an hour and a half though it was very hot on the day of our visit.
We had lunch in the Restaurant Monestir which is next to the car park. The food was excellent and incredibly good value - 12 Euros for a 3 course lunch.
