We really liked visiting this church, it was beautiful, in a rugged way. Both the outside (I found it pretty unique and original, specially the façade) and the inside are worth visiting, and the view from the top is pretty. For 2.5€ it is a reasonable way to learn the importance this building and Medina Sidonia had, due to the fact that it was easier to defend than the coast.…

We went in because we didn’t have time to go round the castle, to our shame. It was atmospheric and spectacular. Don’t miss the climb up the bell tower, the door is just outside the church door as you re-enter the cloisters. The climb is well worth it for the incredible views past the bells.…

for a small fee you enter into an area that was part of the old mosque that leads into the main church. The church itself used to be the areas cathedral and built accordingly. Interesting paintings and architecture. The view from the bell tower are worth the climb.

Built on the foundations of the original castle and later a mosque, this church is a fine example of Andalusian Gothic architecture. Inside there is an enormous 15m high and exquisite retablo, that typically depicts scenes from the life of Christ. There is also a fine sculpted image of Cristo del Perdón attributed to Luisa Roldán, and several sixteenth century benches that were apparently used by the Inquisition. Entry is €2.50 and is into a courtyard that was part of the origional mosque and behind the church are the ruins of the Moors Alcazar . The view from the belltower is spectacular , unfortunately for us the weather was unclear and windy. …
