Juan is a very talented artist and does not only sell his art through his gallery but sells the art of other talented artists. No pressure to buy. Just leisurely browse through the extra large collection, discuss with Juan (he is very spiritual and knowledgable of Mayan culture) and enjoy!

I had the experience of visiting the gallery a few weeks back to have my Mayan sign read, which blew my mind. Juan is so knowledgeable and willing to share his culture and helped me understand better the direction of my life!! Also his artistic talent is stunning and had the great experience to help him prepare his alfombra (sawdust rug made in front of his shop on Good Friday). You’ll love his art and the energy of the gallery ~ a must see while visiting San Juan.

Such a nice place! :) they are five artists and have so many beautiful paintings in different styles. You will definitely find a nice painting as a memory of your trip to Lago de Atitlan. Also I had a nice chat with Edwin while he was preparing my painting to take it with me.

I could not leave the Galeria Imox. I was fortunate to be with a group to hear Juan explain the inspiration for his Mayan cultural art. A must visit.

We visited during a free tour of the town. Juan explained the Mayan calendar and showed me my birth sign and what it meant. He took the time to explain painting techniques and was so friendly. I love the painting I bought and was so glad to have met the artist.

Juan’s shop contains the most unique and authentic artwork I came across during my time in Guatemala. He puts a tremendous amount of effort and pride into his work and it truly shows. He took the time to explain the history behind the piece which I purchased and I was blown away by every painting in his gallery. I recommend visiting his shop and will be sure to return upon my next visit to Guatemala. Thank you Juan!

I was walking through San Juan with a buddy during some free time during our work study. I was in awe of the uniqueness and beauty of the paintings in Galeria Imox. I was absolutely mesmerized by a painting that was still wet on Juan’s easel. Even though it was still wet Juan took the extra time to explain how to take care of the painting and dry it correctly via google translate. The pride Juan takes in his work amazes me and we even exchanged emails because he wants to see the painting when I frame it and put it on my wall. I’m sure anyone could walk into this gallery and find a painting that they love based on the variety that engulfs the place. I highly recommend supporting Jua and his family. Well worth every cent.

I spent a few days in San Juan, relaxing and looking to pick up some art. Imox is the gallery that I kept coming back to. The artwork is so rich and vibrant. I ended up with two pieces, and would have bought more if I had more backpack space. This art is amzing. Than you.
