The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Yotsuya / Iidabashi
Yotsuya and Iidabashi are areas that developed around the outer moat of the Imperial palace. Nearby in Kagurazaka, there is an old red-light district with a photogenic feel evocative of the ambiance of old Tokyo. Narrow paths with stone paving remain to this day, and there are long-standing restaurants with geishas and quaint old cafes in townhouse buildings.

Gorgeous garden
Aug 2021
Koishikawa Korakuen is a beautiful, peaceful spot - I thoroughly enjoyed wandering and sitting there, even in August when there's little colour or flowers. It would be magical in autumn. Lots of mosquitoes though ...

A quaint little Autumn stroll
Nov 2020
Lovely spot in easy well marked walking distance from Iidabashi station.
The signs from the station to the gardens are easy to follow and the entrance fee is 300Yen.
The central lake (with Tokyo Dome in the background), stone bridge and waterfall were pleasant on the eyes.

Nice park for a stroll
Oct 2019
I went there to check out the autumn leaves , it was quite nice.

Although you are in the middle of the city, and sometimes see the Tokyo Dome peaking its top, you can get a little breath of greenery in this park.

It's nice for a date, and a stroll ;)

Balm for the soul.

This garden is a green oasis of peace and quiet in the concrete desert of central Tokyo. Not completely isolated from the city; the garden is overlooked by tower blocks and the hulking Tokyo Dome. It is possible to forget them and immerse yourself in the garden. It has so many paths and hidden nooks that it is easy to spend an hour (I spent nearly three) in leisurely exploration. In early March there is considerable work going on with some path closures. The weeping cherry is in full bloom, well ahead of sakura elsewhere.

A beautiful park which gathers nationwide sights
Feb 2020
This garden was built by a major feudal lord family.
They produced this park gathering the beautiful sights from China and nationwide.
Although this park has spacious space and the big pond is located in the center, there are many paths surrounded by woods and hills, it seems silent and closely more than to say expansive.
Visitors can eat and drink at the park. It is good to visit in a season of cherry blossom.

Brilliantly beautiful
Dec 2019
This is one of Tokyo's many gardens, and rated as one of the best. Indeed it deserves the accolade. Though small and compact, the gardens has enough foliage to mesmerise, especially during the fall when the leaves are in varying stages of turning their colours. To any photographers out there, this is a paradise for you. The entrance fee of 300 yen is well worth the images you bring out.

Good for a walk
Nov 2019 • Couples
When visiting this garden, it has to be the right season like during cherry blossom or when the leaves have turned red. Otherwise you would end up wandering around in a bored garden waiting to see some birds to show up. The landscape was magnificent but obviously required some colours to spice it up to be a stunning scenery.

AUTUMN 🍂
Dec 2019 • Family
Wanted to enjoy the autumn leaves in Tokyo and on 5th Dec 2019, it still has not peaked but still it was a sight to behold.
Plenty of maple leaves in a palette of red, orange & yellow.
For peepers it’s a must do in Tokyo

Koishikawa Korakuen Garden is curated, but being renovated and maintained
Nov 2019
I came to this garden over 40 years ago and was struck by the signage about sights, trees, and the like. It probably is being upgraded for the 2020 Olympics, so certain routes are unavailable. Wear good shoes for walking up and down steps of rocks and stone. It was lovely for autumn foliage, areas ought to be stunning for cherry blossoms, there is an area for irises and wisteria, and a rice paddy where school children plant and harvest the rice. It is right next to Tokyo Dome and a roller coaster, so the contrast of serenity and bustle are interestingly jarring.

Beautiful garden
Nov 2019
It is a very nice garden, also visited by the nearby families with children. The turning of leaves made it even nicer. Recommended but not a must.
