Visited during a walk around of the area. It was busy on Sunday but easy to walk around and take in the sites. I did't see anything written in English so look it up before you go to get some of the history from the...More

Suitengu Shrine which is supposed to be a power spot that facilitates childbirth continues its popularity for obvious reasons. Even in today´s Japan children are born, and mothers pray for an easy birth. The new shrine building which now sits on top of another new...More

Above the busy street the light wood of this shrine stands out. Sitting iin a modern architectural setting, the stairs to it are hidden to the right, ground level. Did not have time to figure out the context, but the shrine keeps its spiritual distance,...More

I went to Tokyo on business in May and September 2016. Suitengumae is a quiet neighborhood next to Nihonbashi. After I finished my business meeting, I first went past Tokyo City Air Terminal (TCAT) and the Royal Park Hotel. This is actually a very convenient...More

Since I have missed visiting the imperial palace (closed) on my last day, I was looking for seeing a few traditional buildings in Japan. It was a pleasant few hours spent on my last day in Tokyo.

This is fascinating , easy to get to and very Japanese. The surrounding area has extensive markets and stalls full of great street food and loads of souvenirs.

Ginza / Tokyo Nihonbashi
Ginza is famous for being a trendy hotspot, but it's
also a downtown area with shops that were founded over
a hundred years ago. Department stores and luxury
boutiques line the route from Nihonbashi to Ginza.
It's a long established tradition to shop and stroll
while the road is closed to traffic. Luxury hotels,
world class cuisine from talented chefs, and a
collection of glitzy clubs will make this area popular
