Mid Town Tower is a tall building (over 800 ft. with 54 floors) and was the tallest building in Tokyo for many years (until 2014). The design Hub is located on the 5th floor and if you are an art lover, you should visit because exhibits and activities change regularly. We enjoyed the park area around the Midtown buildings which... More

This place makes most high-end shopping locations look a bit poor. Each shop, each floor, is a delight. Some western brands, but many pure Japanese. Just wander this lovely space. Also many cafés and restaurants, some with views over the plaza.

This is actually a suite of offices, within Midtown Tower, 5th floor, whose space is dedicated to the latest design ideas. It is free to get in and is currently showing an exhibition titled: The Design Batons. This based on the concept of older more established designers choosing and assisting younger designers to promote their ideas. It didn't really work... More

Tokyo Midtown is a beautifully designed mall. The park is absolutely wonderful, especially when they have food and drink tents set up. We come here multiple times during each trip to Tokyo. I love that it's a one-stop for Uniqlo and Muji, not to mention all the great food that's available! The basement has a great food hall with lots... More

As you come through the walkway from Roppongi station, you start to hear the esoteric mood music piped around the complex. Then you group an escalator where a woman's voice says in a perfect parody of Blade Runner 'it can be dangerous to place child buggies on the escalator'. Ad then you are in to a huge, beautifully designed interior,... More

A Meca of shops based on the concept of "high quality" daily life covering fashion stores, restaurants, offices and a hotel.

Staying in Akasaka / Roppongi

Neighbourhood Profile
Akasaka / Roppongi
Not so long ago the Akasaka and Roppongi areas were famous for their nightlife, high-class restaurants, bars and clubs. More recently, with the opening of Roppongi Hills, Tokyo Midtown and Akasaka Sacas, the area has declared itself as the most fashionable spot to be seen. The area also hosts the National Art Center and the Mori Art Museum and lots of trendy art galleries.
