As with many places in Tokyo, we encountered lots and lots of people during cherry blossom season. There was a wedding going on as we were there, and it was hard to get around due to wedding, but super interesting to see a real Japanese wedding in action. Go during the work week if possible, though they are closed on... More

This is a very beautiful garden. It's the most beautiful garden I have ever seen. I really recommend visiting it. Best is to go there in November / December when it's autumn colours.

I went with my foreign friend at the Kaiseki in the indivusual place. The servie, food, garden, all of the detail even include of the pocelain etc all are so beautiful hermoney and would highly recommend it

This is interesting, first time came and enjoyed a lot. This garden is very good to walk if someone has an addict to walking. Lots of different flowers and scenery which good for photography and its free of charge. So this place is worth for going hangout and spent a good time here.

Very small garden. Pretty garden but not worth travelling for. In early March.. not much flowers are blooming. Maybe better for mid spring. The restaurant there have limited food choices and also costly. Maybe couples taking picturea for wedding. Not for tourist.

A beautiful garden that offers a 300 year old tree, a authentic Tea House nestled on the water, with the modern city skyline in it's back ground. Definately worth a visit.

Happoen basically is offering two opportunities. You can either enjoy a beautiful Japanese Garden free of charge, a quie place in the middle of the vibrant city or you can enjoy the location for events of different sizes. End of March we had a big company event with about 180 guests and Happoen turned out to be a perfect place.... More

This place is incredible. Take time to find a spot and just sit. Take it all in. This was for sure my favorite garden. Better than the Monet Garden in France. This story here is deep and it's easy to connect with.

Staying in Shinagawa / Gotanda

Neighbourhood Profile
Shinagawa / Gotanda
In Shinagawa, an office district shares space with luxury residential buildings and the scene is constantly changing with rapid development. Ikedayama park and Togoshi park are great places to see beautiful traditional Japanese gardens with ponds, as well as enjoy the changing seasons. Shinagawa was a post and a port town during the Edo era and the lavish old Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples at Shinagawa and Ebara are very popular. It's a great place to get in touch with the old Edo atmosphere on a pleasure boat cruising along the canal. The neighboring area around Gotanda station is a study in modern contrasts filled with unique restaurants and a lively nightlife.
