Neighbourhood: Shibuya / Harajuku / Ebisu
There are countless opportunities to shop in the Shibuya and Harajuku districts, especially in shops that focus on Japan's "Kawaii" culture. The trendiest areas are around Shibuya’s Center district, Harajuku's Takeshita-dori and in Omotesando. If you need to recharge from all the shopping, you can easily refresh yourself in Meiji Jingu or Sasaki Park. In contrast, Ebisu has a more grown up ambiance of calm and cool. At the Museum of Yebisu Beer you can learn about the beer that was responsible for the town’s name, and enjoy dining at the popular noodle shops in the surrounding area.

Since its opening in November 1950, the Kiddy Land toy store has become a landmark store in Harajuku. It constantly provides the latest toys information and has been loved by many domestic and foreign customers.

Wow! As a Snoopy fan I was delighted to visit this store. The basement has tons of Snoopy and Peanuts merchandise. It was really hard not to buy more Snoopy merchandise.
Note: The other store I like to visit to purchase Snoopy merchandise is the Peanuts Headquarters store at Knott's Berry Farm in California.
It took quite a bit of time to explore the four floors of this store.
If you are a fan of Disney, Studio Ghibli, Hello Kitty, Rilakkuma, or Sumikko Gurashi then this is the store for you! Will definitely be back!

Beware! Your child will never come out of the shop empty-handed once you step into Kiddyland! This is a four-storey toy shop that will help you build up your leg muscles if you choose not to use the lift. The array of toys on display is just tremendous. Worth a visit.

This is one of those places where if you are bringing children, the first reaction upon hearing the name of the place is to want to bring one’s chileren to it.
Kiddy Land itself is situated in a four-storey building. Each floor is dedicated to a different line of products and the information showing this can be seen by the elevator.
Though the name on the marquee says Kiddy Land, the products sold here are not strictly speaking toys. Toys do make up the bulk of the items here but an overwhelming part of the store is dedicated to DVDs, stickers, and stationeries of the various Disney, Doraemon and other intellectual properties. This may or may not detract from the experience of going to this store though for what it’s worth, it does make for a good place to go to to buy souvenirs.

I wish I’d bought more Ghibli stuff as they had a larger selection than at the Museum. I did grab some availability in Japan only Hello Kitty merch so was very happy.

After reading the reviews, I had passed up many opportunistic to purchase toys at stores I had stopped into, in hopes of making one big purchase. When I arrived at Kiddyland, there was definitely lots of stuff, but the basic things Pikachu in nanoblocks (among other things) were unavailable. The prices were also higher. I wouldn't recommend this store, but that's my opinion.

So I always stop here when in Tokyo because Kiddy Land has things I cannot find for my kids anywhere else. Yet, this time, I felt like Kiddy Land is kind of phoning it in. They still have exclusive items, but the innovation of past years is kind of gone. Maybe not their fault--who knows what the toy companies have on offer--but there have always been things that I couldn't imagine making my kids live without that I had never seen before. This time, not so much. Lots of stuff that I could probably find elsewhere, or a reasonable substitute. I still spent a lot of money, and I am sure my kids will love what they are getting. I think the store is catering more to an Instagram customer--pretty, brightly colored, cute things instead of innovation--than it used to.

This is a great place to find almost any kind of character toys, from Sanrio, to Disney, to anime, Star Wars, and more! There are many floors to explore and while there is an elevator, it's faster to walk up the stairs from floor to floor. Or like another reviewer suggested, take the elevator to the top floor, then work your way down using the stairs. Check out the sign on the first floor that tells you what's on which floor. Have fun!

Yes, they do. I saw those when I visited the store. The selection isn’t really huge but they do have Shinkansen toys. There are other toy stores in Akihabara but harder to locate them then kiddyland.
Is there Tomica there?
