I intended visiting this store on a previous trip to Tokyo, but was having trouble finding it and when my companion started getting irritable I decided to abort the mission. This time I went alone and stumbled upon it by accident. I had been expecting a separate store with a giant hello kitty out the front, or something of the... More

All right, all right, all right, I don't know what I'm doing here but I was expecting a big shop and instead it's a small one near the famous pedestrian scramble and inside the 109 building. I was kind of meh and instead some children were so happy like they found some valuable treasure or something. Important notice: Hello Kitty... More

I was hoping the store would be a huge emporium but it was not. They do have some more rare Hello Kitty articles that are hard to find. Some things on the more posh and opulent side of Hello Kitty as well. The staff was very nice and wrapped everything perfectly (as usual in Japan). Don't forget your passport for... More

Wear comfortable shoes because you're going to be here for a while! I had expected a great deal of children in the store, but found a lot of tourist couples instead.

While not exactly my ideal way of passing a few hours while in Japan, my 2 Young daughters loved it (of course). To me it's just another store carrying things of no interest but I'm not a a 3 year old (or even 7). On a side note...There are several items available that are made in Japan and for sale... More

The picture on this attraction page is actually the Hello Kitty shop in Shinjuku which is much larger than the two shops in Shibuya. The Shinjuku shop can be found at Xxx and is a much larger shop full of kids items and gifts. There is also other sanrio characters such as Dear Daniel. There are two shops in Shibuya,... More

Taking the escalator to 8th floor for the small hello kitty store is an experience and a tour de force in the Japanese mad fashion world. 109 is a must see in Shibuya. The hello kitty shop is rather boring, but it has a full DJ set up. How cool is that?

Staying in Shibuya / Harajuku / Ebisu

Neighbourhood Profile
Shibuya / Harajuku / Ebisu
There are countless opportunities to shop in the Shibuya and Harajuku districts, especially in shops that focus on Japan's "Kawaii" culture. The trendiest areas are around Shibuya’s Center district, Harajuku's Takeshita-dori and in Omotesando. If you need to recharge from all the shopping, you can easily refresh yourself in Meiji Jingu or Sasaki Park. In contrast, Ebisu has a more grown up ambiance of calm and cool. At the Museum of Yebisu Beer you can learn about the beer that was responsible for the town’s name, and enjoy dining at the popular noodle shops in the surrounding area.
