Here is a case where seeing is believing folks! Anyone who enjoys a drink or two, authentic street style or hole-in-the-wall style eateries will definitely appreciate this area. It's a definite icon of Tokyo that must be seen to be believed!

A tiny space of narrow alleys amongst the modernity, lights, crowds and skyscrapers of Shinjuku. The smell of street food, in tiny bars, it is a dream to walk through, and a slice of old style Asia.

Had just the one night in Tokyo and targeted this place after a search for Yakatori bar came up with it. Is catering to the tourist market but is a great evening even when you know this.

There’re some shops that open at lunchtime (or at around 3pm~). But I recommend you’d go there in the evening or at night

I think a few of the places have vegetable skewers and side salads, but without any Japanese language skills it would be a bit difficult in my opinion. It's so crowded and busy I wouldn't feel comfortable spending too much... More

Not suitable for a kid. Small eateries, small tables, smoking areas even inside the place. A few blocks down you will hit Shinjuku. There are more places to eat there that would be appropriate for children.
