This park was a short distance away from the Tokyo Hilton. My husband discovered it on his run one morning. It is a very nice place for a stroll with family, or a morning run. It is not necessarily a place that I would go far out of my way to see, but if you are in the neighborhood, it... More

This is a park across the street from the Hyatt Regency. We had a very pleasant walk there on a nice day. There is a small shrine, small water feature (they call it a waterfall). A good way to spend an hour.

This is a small park and doesn't have as much beauty as a tourist would want. However, it's really nice to see where Japanese people like to go to take a break. It is a very relaxed park.

This is a decent park for an hour stroll. The park somehow manages to be a quiet haven from the hectic streets of the city.

Despite being in the middle of a busy city this park is a mindful respite from the hustle and bustle. It's quiet and relaxing. In spring the blossoms are out and you can escape the sound of traffic and just listen to the birds chirping.

This is a nice-size park located behind the Hyatt-Tokyo. Lovely gardens, a small waterfall (called Niagara Falls!), paved meandering paths. Very well maintained. Public restrooms available.

A small park just across the hotel where we stayed: Shinjuku New City Hotel. Small but still a good place to hang on just to chill and observe around. You can see some uoung japanese practicing their skills in skateboarding, some people dancing and a lot more. A weekend market in the park is also wotth the visit. The niagara... More

The Shinjuku Central (Chuo) Park does not look large on the map but is surprisingly large when you walk it. There is a waterfalls area where there are often skateboarders practicing their tricks, fun to watch. There are many bathrooms around the grounds, handy for those in need.

Staying in Shinjuku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shinjuku
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.
