Quaint. In middle of the town. We went in the quiet of early morning. Very nice. The view of the city from the top is nice. Like most Buddhist shrines very quiet and relaxing. In a prayerful mind you could even have a spiritual connection....More

This beautiful shrine it's a must in Tokyo; even if you don't have much time, you should go to this beautiful place; you can learn about purification ritual before entering the shrine and get some information on historical facts.

The Shrine sits on high ground on the road that runs due south from Shinagawa Station in Kitashinagawa near the Shinbama station. The entrance area is impressive with steep stone steps up to a small garden and relatively small shrine that dates back to 1187.

Starting point of the Shinagawa Shichifukujin - 7 gods/temples walk - has to be completed within a few weeks of New Year's Day. It is a 16th century Shrine.

This temple dates back to the 1600. It is low profile but worth a visit. It is within walking distance of hotels in Shinagawa.

Not to be missed. On Saturday, when I vidited, there were many traditional weddings, which was like from a movie. Go in the morning and avoid the heat - in hot months and potentially crowds. A nice way to learn about Shintu religion. I visited...More

In Shinagawa, an office district shares space with
luxury residential buildings and the scene is
constantly changing with rapid development. Ikedayama
park and Togoshi park are great places to see
beautiful traditional Japanese gardens with ponds, as
well as enjoy the changing seasons. Shinagawa was a
post and a port town during the Edo era and the lavish
old Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples at Shinagawa
